And We Danced Lyrics
She was a bebop baby on a hard day's night
She was hanging on Johnny, he was holding on tight
Well I could feel her coming from a mile away
There was no use talking, there was nothing to say
When the band began to play and play
And we danced
Like a wave on the ocean, romanced
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced and danced and danced
I'm with my bebop baby at the union hall
She could dance all night and shake the paint off the walls
When I saw her smile across the crowded room
Well I knew we'd have to leave the party soon
As the band began to play out of tune
And we danced...
The endless beat
She's walking my way
Hear the music fade when she says
Are we getting too close?
Do we dare to get closer?
The room is spinning and she whispers my name
And we danced...
She was hanging on Johnny, he was holding on tight
Well I could feel her coming from a mile away
There was no use talking, there was nothing to say
When the band began to play and play
Like a wave on the ocean, romanced
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced and danced and danced
She could dance all night and shake the paint off the walls
When I saw her smile across the crowded room
Well I knew we'd have to leave the party soon
As the band began to play out of tune
She's walking my way
Hear the music fade when she says
Are we getting too close?
Do we dare to get closer?
The room is spinning and she whispers my name

As we celebrate America's birthday on the Happy Fourth, leave it to Philadelphia's Americana Rockers the Hooters to put us in a good, happy and celebratory mood with Jig-and-Reel two-step dance-rocker And We Danced. Even though the writing is nothing to write home about, the feel and mood of the song is the sound of joy through rock & roll. It was good then and it's still good now. Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian are clearly in in for love, joy, friendship and rock & roll-that the sheer joy of And We Danced shines through the exuberant and ebuillient performance. One of my favorite Eighties Classic Rock Songs, And We Danced conjures up happier and simpler times that can still come again. A brilliant rocker, And We Danced-it's a song that's timeless. Time stands still when we hear this song. Hooters Rock! Happy Fourth!
ah my god im in love with this song! i have no idea what i means, like dancing with someone you love? maybe? ahdunno. but i LOVE it!
About nostolgia for young love. The video was shot at a drive in movie theatre outside of Philadelphia
God does this song bring back memories of my wasted youth
I love this song so much.
Great song. As Smokler said, it seems to be about nostalgia for young love.
This is just my take on it: the singer sees his old sweetheart hanging on to some other guy, and they both spot eachother and start dancing and get caught up again in old times.
The Hooters are seriously underappreciated. I've gotten some of my friends into them. Great band.
To me, it was always about them seeing each other in the same circles. They danced very well together but never dated. They did have a connection and attracting, but it was only about dancing over the years.
...someone who likes LARGE women??? LOL
