With my arms out like a scarecrow
Dancing up Madison
Sounding like a symphony of strings
You picked me up and whispered "Forever"
Like a secret in my ears
Now. . .
this reminds me of soulmates. the depth is incredible. mineral rocks my little lonely world.
"With my eyes closed, your feet sounded like a symphony of strings "---the correct words.
this song is brilliant.
For what it's worth, these aren't the entire lyircs to this song. "Unfinished", if you will. On the Crank! website there is a whole other few sentences.. I'm really upset that these never made it to the final version of the song, as they are absolutely beautiful and add so much more to the whole "golden age" theme that seems so ever-present in Mineral's lyrics. Anyway, here it is, make what you want of it:
and there I was at fourteen - spinning with my arms out like a scarecrow; walking down monroe to the park, and dancing up madison. With my eyes closed, your feet sounded like a symphony of strings (you picked me up, and whispered: "forever", like a secret in my ear). to smile (like it caused the grass to bend). the warm wind and these memories are gifts that I could never comprehend. i died that day. but something was born inside of me that I cannot explain away.
isn't it "with my eyes close to your feet" ??? i can't see the sense in the other version ;-) i love the "now...". for me it shows what "forever" really means.
does anyone know why it's titled palisade???
i think it might be the name of the park - Palisade Park, could be wrong tho
a palisade's a row of sharpened wooden stakes stuck in the ground...dunno how that fits w/ the song though
anyway...great song. i recently fell in love w/ this band. if someone could advise me on the best songs...
every song is the best songs
One of the most emotional songs ever written.
A-fucking-mazing.
greatest mineral song ever
great song, but one part is very odd sounding, right before he says symphony the second time, he says it very weird.
