All My Friends Lyrics
all my friends alone on a hill
they're just looking down with violent minds
out on loan
they're just not equipped
insistence we hope for the best
we're not making sense
in silence wait
for the day when you're better than
in this silence i'm not buying
but you're not faking
i'm not
i guess we better hold on again
'cause this time
we won't understand again
i'm not waiting for some sense
still they sit alone on a hill
their mechanical thoughts have left
them out on their own
they're not buying this
they're just looking down with violent minds
out on loan
they're just not equipped
insistence we hope for the best
we're not making sense
in silence wait
for the day when you're better than
in this silence i'm not buying
but you're not faking
i'm not
i guess we better hold on again
'cause this time
we won't understand again
i'm not waiting for some sense
their mechanical thoughts have left
them out on their own
they're not buying this

... I fully have no clue what this song is about.
The RK interlude before it talked about death and fearing death... And so for awhile I just assumed that's what it was about. But now I'm starting to think it's kinda like "Everyone's a Junkie"... kinda. The line "their mechanical thoughts have left them out on their own" is key.
This is a fucking brilliant song. I can't believe nobody else has commented on it yet.
Dude. Whoa. This is one of my favorite OLP songs ever. It's so fucking good! The lyrics, the vocals, the music... ahh! It's fecking awesome! It's so sad how everyone commented only on like, Somewhere Out There. It's cause they're all new OLP fans and that's all they know. I hate that shit.
One of the few songs I actually like on the CD. As far as I can interpret, it's about having friends who're on the path of a destructive, conformist, or unimaginative mindset, depending on your interpretation. You hope they'll change, and you wait, despite the hopelessness of them ever reaching a better, more open frame of mind.
i found this interesting, the guitar in the begining is jimi hendrix influenced
i love this song, the best song on the album. it kinda reminds me of "climbing up the walls" on OK Computer.
Cynicalgrrl, i totally know what you mean. if i ever mention olp to anyone, they're like, "oh my god, i LOOVE somewhere out there!" which is definately not one of their better songs.
but, i love this whole cd...i think that this song is about how his friends are making these bad choices, he doesn't understand why, but there's nothing he can do about it.
hobart you're right. I'm a big Radiohead fan and All my friends reminded me of them instantly.
I absolutely love this song!! and i agree with CynicalGrrl, it sucks that a lot of people only know about the more popular songs when there's a ton of really great ones on all the albums... well anyway, All my Friends is one of my fav. songs
I love this song. It's so different than ANYTHING Our Lady Peace has ever done, and has that underground kind of music feel.
