Middle Of Yesterday Lyrics

oh, well i woke up in hell today
i woke up depressed and drained
but thats OK 'cause i promised
not to hurt you again and
apparently i'm to blame but
apparently i've been framed
by a memory that won't help
me when it's happening

out of the mind
out of the soul
out of the light
out of control

standing in the middle of yesterday
where it all went wrong
where we made mistakes
i'm sorry for the
things i forgot to say but it won't
be long until it will be okay

well, i promised you i would change
but i'm an asshole and i'm ashamed
i'm upset 'cause i betrayed everything
that you gave
will you ever let me
explain can i beg you to let me stay
don't quit me 'cause i'll
never let this happen ... again

Alright, this song touches home in an exact situation that has happened to me...its uncanny really. As if Raine read my mind. To Me...and thats in my opinion..this song is about a person who has pushed someone away and is reliving it in differents experiances over and over..thus being tapped in "hell"...the "person" can not forget the first time it and the first love and vowes to make it up to them. They make excuses "like there an ass hole..that they will change...that they her framed..." and promise not to hurt them again...but they are trapped in a circle..and back in the same situation over and over again wishins he made it right the first time. trapped and standing in the middle of yesterday.

I think a lot of people relate to this song, b/c I can too!! hehe Especially about the "I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say".. because I get so caught up in my own things sometimes that I completely forget about a friend's need. This has to be one of my favorite songs ever

"I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say, but it won't be long till it'll be okay" was the quote I used in my senior yearbook. :)

I really like this song...I used to listen to spiritual machines all the time during the summer before my freshman year, but i never really listened to the lyrics to this song until the other day when i popped this cd in, and i almost cried. These lyrics are so powerful, and like everyone else says, :) i can relate to the lyrics, and it makes the song that much better

I basically thought SM was an album about addiction, so here goes this one:

An addict keeps making these promises to someone he loves. But he keeps blacking out when he's drinking or using, so he can never remember what he's supposed to be making up for. (Aparently I'm to blame, but aparently I've been framed, by a memory that won't help me)

On a side note, I almost cried when I read in the lyrics booklet 'I'll never let this happen again' was scratched out, because that's exactly what it is: the addict promises to change, but it's the same crap over and over, and everyone knows it.

SM is not about addiction, it's about machines reaching consciousness in the future and how humans will react with them, and what it will mean to humans and their spirituality.

It's based on "The Age of Spiritual Machines" by Ray Kurzweil. Not really a concept album, but close.

I have an interpretation for this song that I have come up with on my own. I believe that this song is about someone who has betrayed someone else, pretty much fucked up and they are saying that they have to change, that they will change. I put a personal spin on the song by believing that they person who has been betrayed is myself, and that I have been betrayed by myself. When I "woke up in hell today/ woke up depressed and drained" but that it is OK because you promise yourself that you will change. "Don't quit me" --dont give up on yourself..etc.."standing in the middle of yesterday/ where it all went wrong"--the realisation of it all...I know this probably makes no sense ...it is like 4:00 in the morning..I was just listening to this song and it took on this meaning for me
