NB was a rather personal album, so I strongly doubt that it was about date rape.

I think this song is about rape I think it's from the males POINT OF VIEW, trying to justify what he did He can MAKE IT THROUGH the whole ordeal and the guilt or shame or whatever if he sees the whole situation from A DIFFRENT POINT OF VIEW.

He's said that it's about being taken advantage of when you're in a vulnerable position. It's tempting to interpret the song as a commentary on date rape, but NB was a very personal album. It wasn't about things he saw on tv (like FS was), but about his life. So, I'm thinking that he's comparing his own relationship with someone to date rape - someone he trusted has betrayed him.

'Pretend the steak's a cowboy' - could relate to him being a vegan, in a very symbolic way (you can swallow the crap people feed you if you pretend it's something else) 'And the kiss will kill you' - this has to be a reference to the Judas kiss, the kiss of a friend who betrays
