Paint Pastel Princess Lyrics
It's only self rejection
With a mean left
Cold carbon copied coping
And it's mean theft
That's been left behind
Paint pastel princess
Bo and arapax
The shelves when they're broken
I'll beg you, beg you
Waste life when youth is sweeter, neater
Content with contents
Cultures cringing at accents
And it's too tense, camp out (nonsense)
She tastes the candy
Sugarless, cancerous
Crave cocaine cop shows
I'll beg you, beg you
But it's all the same to me
But it's all the same to me
But it's all the same to me
But it's all the same to me
With a mean left
Cold carbon copied coping
And it's mean theft
That's been left behind
Paint pastel princess
Bo and arapax
The shelves when they're broken
I'll beg you, beg you
Content with contents
Cultures cringing at accents
And it's too tense, camp out (nonsense)
Sugarless, cancerous
Crave cocaine cop shows
I'll beg you, beg you
But it's all the same to me
But it's all the same to me
But it's all the same to me

No disrespect intended by this. But they haven't stopped making music. They have a new album (Diorama) due out sometime soon (hopefully). I wish the American audience would accept them a little more than they do. Myabe if they got on stage and lip-synched they'd sell as many copies as the Backseat Boys. They have a new single called the Greatest View, check it out. I shall try to post the lyrics in a few days. peace out
diorama is an awesome cd
I'm American. And I've been listening to this band since 5th grade. I'm now 16. I love them. I was also into Jeff Buckley when the only one's to give a damn about him were Australian and British. But I care for innovative music and this song is amazing. This band is amazing.
The line where he sings "And it's too tense, camp out" isn't nonsense. It's a play on words. Too tense = two tents, in this case. Daniel always fills Silverchair songs with clever puns and whatnot.
I remember using the lyrics for this song as an example of alliteration in my sixth grade class. I figured the lyrics must have something to do with drug addiction or just being on a medication. The line about mean theft is intriguing to me because it makes me think of the critics who talk about anti-depressants and ADD medications robbing people of their spontaneity and creativity. I'm not sure that's what it's implying, but it's an interesting thought.
I'm not sure what 'paint pastel princess' means, but it makes me think of him personifying his depression as something to be adored. The medication he was on could have had some adverse side effects that were hard to adjust to and he could have found some inspiration and solace in his depression, despite wanting to treat it.
This is probably one of the best Silverchairs songs. I wish they would have continued to make music because judging from the way this cd sparked a craze, they would have been huge. I love their lyrics and how passionate they were about the music. Listen and Feel.
thanks americanzero... i knew i hadn't heard anything from them in a while, but i was pretty sure that they were still around. what can't these guys do? they were in their teens when they formed, got a contract, write awesome songs, and they're winning over the american audience... a little slower than i would like, but they're getting there. these guys just rock.
this song is the most amazing one they've ever written to me...lyrically, astounding....vibrantly connected to my life. at first i didn't like it, but after i really listened to it and realized what it was saying...it described my life and me....and, yes i do agree with the other brit or aussie dude...americans focus too much on how big the artist/s are...if their music is incredible and influential, that's all that matters. yes...i'm american.
i LOVE this song. i adore daniel's lyrics <33 "cold carbon copied coping" i like that line. it's very "tongue twister-ish" heh.
such a great song =) so sad tho..its about when u go on medcation everything feels the same..and its confussing a lot of his fears...daniel thinks that he sounds really nervous in the track but i can't tell..maybe its only because i'm a silly american and i can't tell the difference cuz of his accents (which i don't cringe but happen to find very cute =) )
