Tell me exactly, what am I supposed to do
Now that I have allowed you to beat me?
Do you think that we could play another game?
Maybe I could win this time

I kind of like the misery you put me through
Darling, you can trust me completely
If you even try to look the other way
I think that I could kill this time

Rah, rah
Rah, rah

It doesn't really seem I'm getting through to you
Though I see you weeping so sweetly
I think that you might have to take another taste
A little bit of hell this time

Rah, rah
Lie to me
Rah, rah
Lie to me

Is she not right?
Is she insane?
Will she now
Run for her life in the battle that ends this day?

Is she not right?
Is she insane?
Will she now
Run for her life now that she lied to me?

You always wanted people to remember you
To leave your little mark on society
Well, don't you know your wish is coming true today?
Another victim dies tonight

Rah, rah
Lie to me
Rah, rah
Lie to me

Is she not right?
Is she insane?
Will she now
Run for her life in the battle that ends this day?

Is she not right?
Is she insane?
Will she now
Run for her life now that she lied to me?

Is she really
Telling lies again?
Doesn't she realize
She's in danger?

Is she not right?
Is she insane?
Will she now
Run for her life in the battle that ends this day?

Is she not right?
Is she insane?
Will she now
Run for her life now that she lied to me?

The little bitch, she went and she told a lie
And now she will never tell another, a lie
The little bitch, she went and she told a lie
Never fucking lie to me

According to David, being a quote from him, this song is "speaking about the manipulative nature of most people. That you should be cautious when playing with another person's emotions or someone may make you accountable at some point in time."

I can DEFINATLY relate to this song. I had a girl that I felt this way about. Although I never went through with the same outcome the song ends with, not a day went by that I didn't want to.

In the first part of the song, this couple is going to give the relationship another try after the girl wasn't faithfull. He's ok with the fact that she's already burt him once, but he's not going to let it happen again! He's pretty sure he'll "Win this time".

Then he explains that he's very seriouse. He tells her that he'll even go as far as killing to protect his chared feelings.

In the third part, He tells her that he means bussiness and that it's time for stuff to happen. (tells her it's time to take just a little taste of the hell he can bring)

In the corus he's unsure of just how stupid this girl could be.

After the corus, he tells her that he knows how much she likes to "get around" and that he thinks she actually enjoys the attention she gets. But he's going to leave her "mark" for her by killing the men she's with. (if she cared for them, this is a GREAT idea...That's justice for ya!).

Now, after all this, she lies (cheats) angain!!! He's baffled...how could she be so stupid..."doesn't she realize she's in danger".

...and so, in the last three lines...he does what he has to do...heh heh heh.

***side note: I'm sitting next to her sister in a computer lab right now. She's talking to a friend on the other side of her. There's Irony for ya

I think the most important aspect of this song deals with lying. All lying does is maim and spread un-truths. The world would be a much better place if people couldn't lie.

Hey spliphstar we have the same b-day!

this is me and my last ex. he was a liar and i knew it-just trying to get something from me. but i let him, w/the intent of screwing him over in the end. he tried to play a game, so i played his game with him. i ended up leaving after he got most of what he wanted, but before i got to get him back. "i allowed him to beat me." all of the sudden he wants to come back. im straight forward this time- i wont bs and he shouldnt either. but he still lies. im not "getting through to him" he constantly condradicts himself and doesnt even remember his own lies. then makes up more to deny the lies hes caught in--you wonder- "is he not right? is he insane?" so this time im gonna play the game all the way through and win it too. but no matter how i warn him he doesnt get that hes gonna get it if he doesnt stop. im still not "getting through to him" but when im through with him he'll be sorry he ever lied to anyone. especially me-"never fucking lie to me"

AntipsychoticStar...I'm not trying to be rude, just honest...you're not too bright. That story has NOTHING to do with the song.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
