I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
When all the things that you've been thinking
Has you so confused and so unglued
Your head is spinning
Well we've all felt the same inside
I've been on that ledge countless times
And I know what that feels like
You've on your own can't make it through this world all alone
Is this thing on at all?
When all your friends don't have the answers
And you're so convinced that inch by inch
They've turned to strangers
We've all seen the different sides
No one hears even though you've talked all night
And I know what you feel like
Can we really measure if we're any better
Than that skyline that goes on and on forever on and on?
Has you so confused and so unglued
Your head is spinning
Well we've all felt the same inside
I've been on that ledge countless times
And I know what that feels like
You've on your own can't make it through this world all alone
Is this thing on at all?
When all your friends don't have the answers
And you're so convinced that inch by inch
They've turned to strangers
We've all seen the different sides
No one hears even though you've talked all night
And I know what you feel like
Can we really measure if we're any better
Than that skyline that goes on and on forever on and on?

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Midnight

Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.

"Zombie" is about the ethno-political conflict in Ireland. This is obvious if you know anything of the singer (Dolores O'Riordan)'s Irish heritage and understood the "1916" Easter Rising reference.
"Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
Who are we mistaken
-
Another mother's breaking
Heart is taking over"
Laments the Warrington bomb attacks in which two children were fatally injured on March 23rd, 1993. Twelve year old Tim Parry was taken off life support with permission from his mother after five days in the hospital, virtually braindead.
"But you see it's not me
It's not my family"
References how people who are not directly involved with the violence feel about it. They are "zombies" without sympathy who refuse to take action while others suffer.
This song is so incredible. LTJ has put out some powerful songs, and this is definitely one of them. I think everyone's been to that place at some point when they're just overwhelmed, and you can't seem to find the way to make it right, but you just keep thinking to yourself that its going to work out so don't freak out about it.
this song is awesome. defs one of less than jakes best! very powerful indeed "I've been on that ledge countless times and I know what that feels like"
most people have been there but theres better ways 2 overcome. :)

im seeing less than jake in concert in august.....its gonna be rad as hell....this song pretty much is about how your friends suck and they never have the answers to your problems. this is what makes less than jake so awesome, there ability to connect and relate to their fans. they pretty much know that everybody has been through this experience or something like it. LTJ all the way
heh..i agree ScallyWag
I love this song! It really sticks out on Borders & Boundaries...it gets me in such a good mood when I listen to it! I can't wait to see LTJ LIIVVEEE!
I think ScallyWag has missed the point, its not about ur friends being shit, cuz they dont understand. I think its jus about being at a point where no one can understand, which jus makes u feel lonely, like no1's listening.
to me this songs about someone coming to you for advice and you can't really say anything. i relate it to when me and this boy where half egttign together but he already was caugth up in a realtionship and was trying to lay it on me....and i was saying "well it's not my problem" as in -----"i've been on that ledge countless times and i know what it feels like/you're on your own/can't make it through this world all alone/ is this thing on?" as in sort it out yourself, you're on your own, i wont make teh decision for you. i don't know. just my interpriation.
This has gotta be my fav less than jake song I love it personally though I think its about how when you have problems you go to your friends but no matter what they say you still feel like shit and they cant help you you gotta solve it yourself but thats my opinion ^^
LTJ is great at writing songs almost everyone if not everyone can relate to... great song
