And I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try
And we'll walk in circles around this whole block
Walk on the cracks of the same old sidewalks
Then we'll talk about leaving town
Yeah we'll talk about leaving
I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try

We rode across that bridge all night
We talked our way through city lights
Traced all the lines, were killing time
Under those buzzing signs
From downtown to anywhere but here
Tonight yeah I swear to these rooftops
And just hoped that car would never stop

And I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try
And we'll walk in circles around this whole block
Walk on the cracks of the same old sidewalks
And we'll talk about leaving town
And we'll talk about leaving
I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try

We drove around this place all night
Past closed signs and familiar sights
We're moving by, passing time
Counting those center lines
With twenty thousand lines left to go
That lead to somewhere I don't know
It might be the time that we leave this all behind

And I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try
And we'll walk in circles around this whole block
Walk on the cracks of the same old sidewalks
And we'll talk about leaving town
And we'll talk about leaving
I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try

And there's been a few times
That we, we thought it felt right
To take the westbound signs
And just leave town tonight

And I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try
And we'll walk in circles around this whole block
Walk on the cracks of the same old sidewalks
And we'll talk about leaving town
And we'll talk about leaving
I swear it's the last time
And I swear it's my last try

And I swear it's my last try

And we'll talk about leaving town
And we'll talk about leaving town

This song is definitely NOT about a relationship. It is about living in a shitty, boring town and wanting to leave without looking back. This is a theme throughout LTJ's lyrics. Songs like "History of a Boring Town" and "Last One Out of Liberty City" talk about the same type of stuff. Still not convinced? Look no further than the album "Look What Happened" was originally on, "Borders and Boundaries". The artwork is mostly related to maps, roads and traveling which connects nicely with some of the lyrics of "Look What Happened".

Ahhh...my fav ltj song....it makes me think about old times, wishing things could be like they used to be. It reminds me of going out to the old neighbourhood where I grew up and just want everything to be innocent and simple again.

this is one of my fave less than jake songs. i think its about a relationship too. its about talking yourself hoarse but the other person never really understanding. so you keep promising yourself its the last time. and yet you never really can say goodbye. like your home town so much has happened you can never really say goodbye for good.

i think this song is about overcoming a break up and getting over someone, he says its his last time and his last try but he never actually leaves her and he cant stop thinking about her, and he doesnt want the car to stop so he can be with her forever

i agree with this being a metaphor about leaving the person you are so used to being with even though you know you should. (*leaving town*). he says he swears its his last time and this is the last chance he will give her but in the end he always goes back.

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following: "We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."

Zombie
Cranberries, The
"Zombie" is about the ethno-political conflict in Ireland. This is obvious if you know anything of the singer (Dolores O'Riordan)'s Irish heritage and understood the "1916" Easter Rising reference. "Another head hangs lowly Child is slowly taken And the violence caused such silence Who are we mistaken - Another mother's breaking Heart is taking over" Laments the Warrington bomb attacks in which two children were fatally injured on March 23rd, 1993. Twelve year old Tim Parry was taken off life support with permission from his mother after five days in the hospital, virtually braindead. "But you see it's not me It's not my family" References how people who are not directly involved with the violence feel about it. They are "zombies" without sympathy who refuse to take action while others suffer.

Anti-Hero
Taylor Swift
I believe this is another amazingly on point and nuanced commentary on the insanity that follows emotionally abusive relationships. The abuser has no anxieties, no emotional pain, or salience/memory for that matter, so the survivor appears to be the crazy one, obsessed with the abuse and that buzzword that seems to ignite arguments about diagnosing people without a degree, etc. funny how you say the words domestic violence, abuse, abuse survivor and boom the subject changes. Anyways, I especially relate to her midnights becoming afternoons, complex PTSD often leads to this phenomenon, whether due to purposeful sleep deprivation by the abuser, or just hyper vigilance associated with the PTSD, along with the fear of facing people, especially your loved ones, who Never actually understand, even if they try, because all they see is you, on fire, screaming about the arsonist that no one ever sees, and who has been spreading lies about your alleged mental instability, deceptive personality, etc. the whole time. While the last thing survivors need is more blame, our society supports a narrative that blames the objectively innocent party because the blatantly guilty party has spent their entire lives fabricating a persona and we’re just being human, and human psychology is quite counterintuitive especially in the context of trauma. Look at Amber Heard. Vilified and not believed, regardless of what any abuse survivor could recognize as a fellow survivor instantly. But Johnny depp is a malignant narcissist, a man, and wealthy as all get out. It’s sick.
