Old friend, I hear you
I know just how you feel
I've been in your shoes before

I've seen your worries,
And I can understand everything you going through

And I believe in you
Your time is coming
Don't give up tonight
There's a life ahead
Your time is coming
Don't let go tonight
My friend, I've listened
Things only can improve
You have all the time in the world
So keep on fighting,
And never let them say there's anything that you can't do
Cause I believe in you
Your time is coming
Don't give up tonight
There's a life ahead
Your time is coming
Don't let go tonight

I watched as you sat with a cigarette in your hand,
holding a drink in the other,
Trying to drown all your pain:
And I believe in you
Your time is coming
Don't give up tonight
There's a life ahead
Your time is coming
Don't let go tonight
Old friend, you'll realize,
Good things are worth the wait
Enjoy the times that you have
You'll see a new day,
When darkness fades again,
And the sun can rise to shine
And I believe in you
Your time is coming
Don't give up tonight
There's a life ahead
Your time is coming
Don't let go tonight.

This song was like how I used to be, and is how one of my bestfriends is right now. But, I have been there for him, like he has for me, and nothing is gonna change that. If you have someone that talks you out of suicide, you have a good friend. I think this song shows the importance of a friend in need and having someone there. I know we have all felt bad, and we are lucky if we have someone there.

This song is absolutely AWESOME. It so deep and meaningful. A good song for a good friend. My good friend is going through the same thing I went through before and I played this song for her, she almost started crying. She told me what a good guy I was, I'll always be there for a friend.

This song is beyond expression in words!! The mixture of the words and the beats and the piano and the vocals and the emotions behind it all.... makes me almost cry!!! I only wish I had found this song about a year ago... might have helped some friends along the way. :( I want this to be the seniors's song at graduation!! everyone should know about this song. But then the radios would just overplay it and kill it. so nevermind. lol

I agree with everyone here. I am so in love with this song. The first time I listened to it, I started to cry. It's so easy to relate to. Almost everyone knows someone that has gone through something similar to this. TJT is the best band of all time! I'm sure their new album will rock!

i love this song, so deep and meaningful i can't begin to explain. and call me crazy, but i think the guitar solo in the middle is very joe perryesque (aerosmith). great song by a great band. TJT rocks.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
