Touch Peel and Stand Lyrics
Since I know how low to go
I won't let it show
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go
And now I stand
And I peel for more
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go
CHORUS:
Yes, I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
You are the one to abuse
(repeat)
You're always talking back to me
You won't let it be
Won't you touch me, touch me
It never bothered you before
Now I stand
And I peel for more
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go
(chorus)
(repeat)
I've got this time on my hands
I won't let it show
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go
And now I stand
And I peel for more
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go
Yes, I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
You are the one to abuse
(repeat)
You won't let it be
Won't you touch me, touch me
It never bothered you before
Now I stand
And I peel for more
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go
(repeat)

i think its about drug use. just from the phrases "i know how low to go"; '"finally found a reason I don't need an excuse" and especially the "i peel for more". travis had a meth addiction since he was like 16 and the ice accumilates under the skin causing the itching and soars. so he stands with a reason no excuse needed and peels for more...
IF you watch the vid, it's obviously about addiction
the song is like a kinda in your face , dare. kinda like ' what? you found out i was on drugs, so now you don't want anything to do with me?'
he's angry cause his gf or whatever found out about his drug addiction and she didn't want anything to do with him after that , and now he's sitting there thinking , with all this time on his hands, cause now he has no gf, no job. so he's just alone with the drugs, and it's like he's talking to the drugs' i've got this time on my hands, you are the one to abuse'
Meth would def explain that
well, if you know about the band, you will know that they had drug problems, AND recorded at the same studio as Alice in Chains.. they sound sorta similar.

i've personally met travis meeks (the writer of this song) and have talked with him about the meaning of the song and he told me the song is actually about the apple in the garden of eden. that u can touch it, peel it, and then stand with it but r told not to eat, but in the end were gonna do what were told not to do, it just takes time for us to find that reason
It’s 100% about his personal methamphetamine addiction, told through a metaphor about the apple and the garden of Eden (props to the previous commenter who said that first). All amphetamines (adderrol and etc...) give you what feels like unlimited energy and what seems like unlimited time... because you’re always awake. He’s talking to himself... he is the abuser.
If you've ever been abused repeatedly, whether it be emotional, physical, or sexual, then this song actually makes a lot of sense. Just based off what is written, I don't think it's necessarily sexual at all. To me the song is about finally harvesting enough anger, pride, self-love, just SOMETHING to finally stand up and not back down to my abuser, forgoing self-preservation by 'poking the bear' and completely exposing myself (hence peel), physically and emotionally, to the following retribution.
First stanza: 'Poking the Bear'. You know what to say to really rile the abuser up - whether it be talking about what he or she has done to you, how he or she is a heartless piece of shit, that you hate everything involving this person - all with the intent of enraging the abuser by calling out the truth. To say such harsh or 'low' things, remaining your best to remain cold as they had been cold, no tears or sympathy, just controlled anger. Dare the abuser to touch you as they have before, but this time, the fight within will not be extinguished. You will not let your anger go. You will not let the abuser beat you anymore into submission. You refuse to let it go.
Chorus: Once again, the abused has finally came to the point of standing up for his or herself and this time will not be making an excuse for the abuser pardoning them from all crimes - no more clumsiness-made bruises, no more "I deserved it,", no more tolerating something as if the treatment was normal. Right here, right now, standing up against the abused, willing to take as much time as it needs to confront the abuser knowing almost exactly what's about to happen next yet knowing that this time the ending will be different. Second Stanza: Continued from the first. The first couplet denotes arguing from the abuser, the abused still provoking by saying something to the effect, "You can't pretend you're something else! Won't touch me again? You never had a problem with it before!"
@longlostredemption I Agree and It's unfortunate we understand.

@longlostredemption He wasn't abused by anyone. He was abused by his drug addiction. That is what the song is about.

This is about him being physically, mentally and emotionally abused as a child-I know this to be true.
"Since I know how low to go I won't let it show." The abuser knows not to leave marks that are visible-they are hidden under his clothes.
"You're always talking back to me, you won't let it be." The child is being punished for talking back.
"I finally found a reason, I won't need an excuse." Abusers always use excuses to blame the abused for what they do to them-in the abusers' mind they have one..
"I stand and I peel for more." The child stands and takes it-he has learned that succumbing is easier than fighting it.
@kara111713 Footnote: If you watch the video, it shows a picture of an older woman with and X marked through it.

@kara111713 I'm pretty sure you are 100% correct on this. I've never heard anyone explain this song that way. I know that he was abused as a kid; I just didn't know that this song was about that. Ur smart.

@kara111713 I met his parents. I'm pretty sure he was not abused as a kid. He has asperges. He self medicated. But I never hot the idea his parents abused him.

HE'S TALKING ABOUT OPENING UP TO SOMEONE AFTER THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS OVER.
Erm...actually, I'm pretty sure this song is about a dominatrix. Least, that's what it says at wiki. If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominatrix#Dominatrices_in_music , it lists this song as one of the ones about a dominatrix.

I don't like where he says "you are the one to abuse". I've got this time on my hands....I've got this time on my hands you are the one to abuse hmm
I like the "peeling clothes" interpretation. It's like sex has just become a ritual for these two people, they're not feeling it anymore. Touch, peel, and we're done. Stand. (That's just my own fucked-up way of looking at it - good song though.)
