Rend It

I've always thought that this song was a love song. Not a love song in normal terms, but a song about a relationship. I think Guy wrote the lyrics to this one, so I'd say this is about Guy's relationship with someone, at the time, that he was hopelessly devoted to. I think it states that that person didn't reciprocate to the extent he dvoted to them, and he knew that. But still, he persisted in hopes that the person would "love him back," and he obsessed over that notion and becomes consumed by it. The end of the song marks his realization that he needs to move on to better things, to someone that really deserves his love. It's pretty self-explanatory to me, but I though I'd comment since no one else had, and it's my favorite Fugazi song.

i think this song is when you get sick of people threatening you so much...its like why dont you kick my ass already if you really want to...stop jawing on and on about it....over all he just wants inner peace...or surrender but too many people are getting the best of his emotions thats my opinion and i agree with the above comment..well its my favorite on this album anywho

The Instrument demo version is one of the creepiest things I've ever heard. But I love it and this original.

juxtaposedhalf: No. Just, No! The lyrics are printed in the cd liner, the ones posted here are correct. Sorry man, hat e to break it to you but "In lock with the buzzing sound" makes no literal or symbolic sense. Maybe if the buzzing sound were referenced somewhere else in the song but it's not. It is a cool song though, it's one of the reasons this album is one of my Top Ten all-time. Seems to me this guy is in a bitter relationship and is tired of all the fighting, he's saying he doesn't care anymore what got said and what didn't, and it's breaking him down. Hmmm, sounds like my last marriage!

perhaps if anyone purchased music anymore they wouldn't needlessly make these mistakes. oh well. we win.

Buy the album. Remember those things called liner notes? That have the lyrics in them?

If you don't want to buy the album fine, but what is the point in making up lyrics and saying you think they're right when they're clearly not? I just don't get it..
