Jupiter's Lament Lyrics
Gone, long gone
We can all be gone, gone, gone
Leave this world all wrong, wrong, wrong
Leave it far behind
And although my secret's gone I'll try to carry on
If I must, I'll get along without you
Gone, long gone
Leave this world all wrong, wrong, wrong
Beyond the pale beyond the dawn
Free these mortal bonds
No one knows I can't be wrong
So I'll sing the same old songs
I try to be strong for you
Why have you left me
Amongst the tall trees
I know I gave her all I have
And I tied her heart in ribbons
Tied her heart in ribbons
Tied her heart in ribbons and bows
And I'm gone
Oh yes, I'm gone
And I'm lost without you
I'm lost within you
And I'm gone, so gone, long gone
We can all be gone, gone, gone
Leave this world all wrong, wrong, wrong
Leave it far behind
If I must, I'll get along without you
Leave this world all wrong, wrong, wrong
Beyond the pale beyond the dawn
Free these mortal bonds
So I'll sing the same old songs
I try to be strong for you
Amongst the tall trees
I know I gave her all I have
Tied her heart in ribbons
Tied her heart in ribbons and bows
Oh yes, I'm gone
And I'm lost without you
I'm lost within you
And I'm gone, so gone, long gone

I remember listening to this song a lot in the days following my dog's death when I was about 12 years old. Great song.
Good song
This song would have made an excellent addition to Mellon Collie. As a quite, acoustic song that is as heart-wrenching as it is beautiful, I believe that it would have been an ideal emotional stepping stone between the rage and desperation of "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and the emptiness and jaded melancholy of "To Forgive." It was certainly better than James' "Take Me Down," which, although was a decent song in its own right, didn't deserve a place among the masterpieces Billy wrote.
Agree with virex7... that take me down doesn´t seem to be confortable in Mellon Collie.. this song is really relaxing..
i really cant believe theres only four comments. this is one of my favorite pumpkins songs. and every time i play it for someone. theyre always like. wow this isnt what i expected?? i think people are so used to pumpkins and the zero or bullet with butterfly wings, that they really dont notice the beautiful things. but then again im a sucker for the unnoticed.
A perfect eulogy.
Thankfully sung before Corgan got unbearably whiney...
This song is beautiful like pretty much the entire "Tonite, Tonite" disc on The Aeroplane Flies High. Today, I was feeling depressed and angry, and then I popped that disc in, hoping for some relief, and all of my pain ebbed away as I listened to this disc. This song, along with the rest, basically made my day, although this song was personally my favorite.
