Aurora Lyrics

Treading
the glacier head
looking hard for moments of shine
from twilight
to twilight

Ahhh...

Aurora
goddess sparkle
shoot me
beyond this suffer
the need is great

Aurora

Ahhh...

Aurora
goddess sparkle
a mountain shade
suggests your shape

I tumble down on my knees
fill the mouth with snow
the way
it
melts
I wish
to melt into you

Aurora

Ahhh...

Spark the sun off
Spark the sun off
Spark the sun off
Spark the sun off

well on Bjork's official site it says that the song is about an experience she had when she was little, she fell and hurt her knee, she then filled her mouth with snow to try to relieve the pain.

The song is about dissolving with pleasure, and just praying, asking, and demanding for that.

I consider this as the 4th installment of the Isobel Saga (Human Behavior, Isobel, Bachelorette, and Aurora.) After being deeply hurt by her lover in Bachelorette, Isobel is praying to Aurora, a nature-goddess, and asking her to take away her misery.

In hard times, the speaker goes out to the glaciers to catch glimpses of the northern lights in order to heal herself.

this songs' AURA if you will- says me that there is a need sometimes in everyones life- to be pushed out of a horrible point in time- into another that is better suiting your needs- bjork says- "goddess sparkle"- this goddess or aurora is what will actually do the pushing (of you or whoever out of this torture chamber of bad tidings) whenever i find myself wanting to just DIE or fall off the face of the earth- this song reminds me that there is something that will push me out of this circle- a goddess and aurora........

utter mundane isn't actually english, it's either icelandic or gibberish and i doubt that's how it's spelt as well. any icelandic speakers wishing to translate for us?

Ah, maybe this is too obvious, but is it any more complex than describing the Northern Lights and their beauty? They are fairly common in Iceland and flare up on occasion during the night - 'Looking for moments of shine'. 'Threading' would suggest the curtain shapes that they form. 'Sparkle the sun off' probably refers to their solar source. Sometimes when you feel like crap, seeing something beautiful helps the suffering. So, this seens to be an account of travelling out to a glacier during the night specifically to view the Aurora borealis and feel something beautiful in an effort to sooth.

@linusl thanks for this beautiful meaning
