Hello Oskar Lyrics

over there well he's wondering
is Oskar there is Oskar all right
was never cool not allowed to fit
he never knew what he liked

over there he's the rubberman
a rubber dress with Betty Page eyes
was never cool he'll never settle down
he's not allowed to drive
he'll build a bridge then walk around
don't ever call him dumb
he's not that bright
he's just not himself

I will take you somewhere
somewhere to unwind
you're tangled up in all this shit
I will make you mine
over there he's a superstar
a taximan and a young Eisenstein

The name of the song was taken from the name of a book called "Hello, Oscar." It was about a schizophrenic guy. With that in mind, the meaning behind the song should be easy to figure out.

While I have always heard the same thing, that it was about a book called, "Hello, Oscar" about schizophrenia, I have not been able to locate this book anywhere, and frankly reading the lyrics, how can you say that it has anything to do with schizophrenia? Maybe I'm missing something, explain?

There's nothing wrong, he's a superstar A taximan and a young Eisenstein Was never cool he'll never settle down He's not allowed to drive

He'll build a bridge then walk around Leave that boy alone He's not that bright He's not uptight And he's just not him Not himself

That sure sounds like a description of schizophrenia to me, Gary.
