Beauty And The Beast Lyrics
Remember the first dance we shared?
Recall the night you melted my uglyness away?
The night you left with a kiss so kind
Only a scent of beauty left behind
Ah, dear friend I remember the night
The moon and the dreams we shared
Your trembling paw in my hand
Dreaming of that northern land
Touching me with a kiss of a beast
I know my dreams are made of you
Of you and only for you
Your ocean pulls me under
Your voice tears me asunder
Love me before the last petal falls
As a world without a glance
Of the ocean´s fair expanse
Such the world would be
If no love did flow in thee
But as my heart is occupied
Your love to me now has to die
Forgive me, I need more than you can offer me
Didn´t you read the tale
Where happily ever after was to kiss a frog?
Don´t you know this tale
In which all I ever wanted
I´ll never have
For who could ever learn to love a beast?
However cold the wind and rain
I´ll be there to ease up your pain
However cruel the mirrors of sin
Remember, beauty is found within
...Forever shall the wolf in me desire the sheep in you...

in my opinion you're absolutely right! but i've noticed, that belle refers to him as friend from the start, so after all she didn't loved him... well, about the beast's voice, tuomas loves to do those kind of things (like he did in the poet and the pendulum), and you might be right, however, i prefer to see him as a beast from the beginning. although, i cant deny, that beauty's voice at the end is very dramatic... it seems to me that she cries. =,( and i'm sure that that moment at the end wont be just because it's very beautiful (at least for me), there must be something more...
and of course every true nightwish fan should know, that he thinks of himself as a beast, and i think he uses this story to tell about his own life, how once beauty went from him... and as i remember, in the beauty of the beast he speaks about beauty and the love which should be lost, but it's still there, and about that, that he could never find anyone... also, we met this beauty in Gethsemane (or in Gothic Sanctuary) "Another beauty, loved by a beast Another tale of infinite dreams Your eyes, they were my paradise Your smile made my sun rise" and "Without you The poetry within me is dead". poor tuomas, i wonder, who is the one that made him suffer so much... but if not she, we could never listen to such beautiful songs as those... so i guess i'm grateful of her too. (wow, that was mean even for me...)
I think that the woman how made him suffer is Tarja Turunen.

Don't go by what someone else says the song should mean to you! And does that someone that told you live in Ethiopia or is he/she in a country where one can get an education, samara? I find nothing to suggest anyone dies. Quite a retarded notion.
What caught my interest in this discussion is the possibility of her heart being occupied by her love for her father. I believe this is likely not what the author suggests, You all are focusing too much on the fairy tale. Why write a song only about a story that has already been told?
The song is about love in a more general sense. Another reason I have come to this conclusion is that there are more allusions than the one just to the movie. The line about the oceans fair expanse is from another fairy tale, The Light Princess" Perhaps the mirror of sin is from Snow White? Anyway, if you read The Light princess (spoiler warning) a prince that is willing to die for a princess says that the world, his soul, and her hart, (which cannot feel love before his death breaks a curse), would be "If the world without a glance... if love cannot flow in thee". This refers to his feeling love in general, but she say that his love cannot be for her as her "heart is occupied" by another.
The next stanza describes that the Beast believes no one will love him as he is beastly.
The Beauty then says that however cruel the mirrors which indulge the sin of vanity, beauty is in ones character.
Her offer to comfort his pain, from the wind and rain that comes from the superficial world, suggests that though his love for her must die she still cares about him and will maintain a friendly relationship.
This is no comfort for he will always desire her in the primal way a predatory wolf desires it's gentle feminine pray.
Ahh it's beautifull....... Thanks Charly, without you I wouldn't have known this band
A gorgeous song that puts a twist on the old fairy tale.
Anyone know who the deep voice is? The only credits for vocals are Tarja's (duh), Tuomas's (On Angels Fall First), and Tony Kakko's (On Over the Hills...).
I think the deep voice is one of the band members (Tuomas or whoever it is that sings) but it's been altered I think.
This is such a beautiful song. It starts out Belle and the Beast thinking back on how they met and fell in love as she's dying. She tells him she must leave to go on to another life, but then sends him a letter from the dead to tell him that no what she will always love him.
Or at least that's what I was told and I think it fits. It makes more sense to me then just having Belle leave him, because as the story goes she wasn't happy with a regular life and she found her excitement with him... death would be the only bigger adventure.
its one of there best songs if i say it (hey satakieli the man's voice you hear on this song is the singer of sonata arctica dont now his name)
That would be Tony Kakko or something...
I agree with RainbowDemon, for Belle found love in the Beast. However, what still makes me think,is why the Beast is still "a beast"? For,when Belle found she loved him,he returned to being the once Handsome Prince he was before, and gaining a modecome of respect because his personality changed for the better.
Remember, Lost and Damned, the song is refering to the past, so the Beast is being called "a beast" because it's what he was in the past, even if it wasn't what he is now. Almost poking fun (affectionately) at his past nickname.
In the live version of this songs on From Wishes to Eternity, there is a spoken intro which sounds like it is spoken by Tony Kakko. What is he saying and where did it originate?
