I talk to you
You walk away
You're still on the down beat
You say you don't want my help
But you can't escape
If your running from yourself

I give you my love
I give you my love
Give you my love
Still you walk away

It's your own late show
As you jump to the street below
But where can you go
To leave yourself behind
Alone in the spotlight
Of this, your own tragedy

I give you my love, love, love
Love, love, love, love, love, love

In the heart in the heart
In the heart of the city
Heart in the heart in
The heart of the city
Oh, love
I pour my love out for you
And I'll bring you through
See your not alone

I give you my love, give you my love
Give you my love, give you my love
Give you my love, give you my love
Give you my love, give you my love
Give you my love, love, love
Love, love, love, love, love

Kid Creole and the Coconuts were in Dublin and were invited to join on this one. In U2 by U2, Bono said, "We had the studio lit red for effect, and one Coconut took her top off and sang in what looked like a ballerina's bra. The boys from Ireland had difficulty breathing."

I think this is, yes, about unrequited love, but it can also be looked at from the point of view of God reaching out to us and having to watch us turn away, trying to make it on our own.

obviously about love, eh? whats the deal wit it bein called red light tho? I rekon its written from God's perspective...He gives us love, we reject Him...."I talk to you, You walk away." And we can't escape from His love as well.

well, the red light is synonymous with prostitutes, really. And I can't remember the details, but I believe Bono has said that it's something about a prostitute. Kind of reminds me of Roxanne.

Well most of us know about the title. I guess it's a relationship that couldn't work out, possibly because of some serious matter, hence "your own tragedy". Or there's something fundamentally wrong with the person.

Yes, definitely underrated. I like how simple it is compared to War's other tracks. :D

Angst to the angst power. A man is in love with a woman who is, in his view, self-destructing (and the title, "red light," indicates that prostitution may be part of this) and he succeeds neither in saving her nor winning her love. A world of pain.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
