Somebody Already Broke My Heart Lyrics

you came along when i
needed a saviour
someone to pull me
through somehow
i've been torn apart so
many times
i've been hurt so many
times before
so i'm counting on you now

somebody already
broke my heart
somebody already
broke my heart

here i am
so don't leave me stranded
on the end of a line
hanging on the edge of a lie
i've been torn apart so
many times
i've been hurt so many
times before
so be careful and be kind

somebody already
broke my heart
if someone has to lose
i don't want to play
somebody already
broke my heart
no no i can't go there again

you came along when i
needed a saviour
someone to pull me
through somehow
i've been torn apart so
many times
i've been hurt so many
times before
so i'm counting on you now

somebody already
broke my heart
if someone has to lose
i don't want to play
somebody already
broke my heart
no no i can't go there again

First of all...I ADORE THIS SONG. i feel like I can completely relate to it. Personally I dont really think that the "new guy" is a rebound. I think that she is actually happy that she found him because she refers to him as her saviour(you came along...when i need a saviour), yet she is still cautious because of the damage that her ex left behind. Though i must admit, PotholesinMyLawn made a good point about her still being in the relationship (that made me think). She also says, "here I am," as if she is giving herself to the new person but, as i said before, just a tad bit apprehensive because she does not want to be hurt.

This song is about someone being honest and open to a new love. Telling them that she doesnt want to play games she just want a healthy relationship, thats good and kind. Its almost a plea, i can't go there again, if i do i think it might kill all my faith in love.

one word comes to mind with this song ''rebound'' , its sorta bad to want something fom somonelse cause somone hurt you . you sorta rely on the new person to be better and everything the other person wasnt .

It does seem to me that she is kind of telling this new person that "I used to love someone. He broke my heart. Therefore I need you here to be caring and kind so I can recover." In other words, she is saying that he is a rebound. She knows that this relationship won't mean much, and is refusing to allow it be anything important (hence the "if someone has to lose I don;t want to play")...

Okay... this is how I see this song... I sorta agree with what most people have said... BUT there is a twist here...

I think she is still in the dead end relationship... Her heart is broken... but she is still with the dude...

She says she is "hanging on the edge of a lie" The Like is his so-call love for her...

Now a friend that has always been there through it all has sorta stepped up... not to take advantage of her will she is down... but her pain has spraked his heart into action...

She is saying to him the friend that want to be more... that If we go there... Someone going to pay... I don't want to loose you too....

See my post on Bullet Proof Soul... I think these two songs tie in very well.

Also I think the guy in this song is the same guy in Kiss of Life... Where she ponders the idea of Him and Her...

This song is the reality of her current situation...

I hope that makes since... I think you could write a book just using Sade's songs!

What's so sad is that saying something like this to someone in a new relationship is a self fulfilling prophecy.
