i am pretty sure this is about a guy who was in some kind of accident. Either on his own or at fault of the singers perspective and he is not in some kind of a coma or permanantley brain damaged or something along those lines. Pantera songs are always tough to interperut

His friend was fatally injured in a car crash and was on a life support machine, making him just a "hollow shell"

My oldest brother died feb 5 09 of a fentanyl overdose (self inflicted but accidental). He overdosed in late Oct of 08 and was in a coma with severe brain damage and seemed like a "Hollow" vessel with his eyes open staring into space. My mom cried for months almost constantly and my younger brother and I have an extreem hatred for his widow which drove him crazy and to use drugs to "escape" her, well, he escaped it all. That is what this song means to me.

I personally think this song is about a friend of his who got into some really heavy drugs(heavier than what phil was doing) and hes now a hopeless drug addict. Drug addicts are usually hollow inside because they are consumed by there drug. He is saying about how they talked about what they want to achieve in life and how his addiction is affecting his family.

i think its acctually about the singers best friend geting involved in a serious accident (or possibly drugs overdose) and being permantly brain damaged to the point of becomming a vegtable, this is not a coma, hes awake, theres just no concious mind inside (ie hollow) people in this condition just stair into space all the time ("sits with blank expresions")

people in these vegatble like states cant feel anything, they are basicly cut off from the real world completely. Some speculate that the person is acctually still concious within there own mind, but unable to interact with the outside world in anyway (a link there to "i want to come in after you") its a very sad condition to be in, both for the family + friends and the possibly still concious person trapped in there own mind :(

its either about a coma or a burnout. after u do so much u just kinda sit and stare. u smoke urself to death an ur just kind of fried forever. once those brain cells are gone they dont come back

It's pretty obvious what it's about. He is helpless because his best friend is now braindead, but i don't think he's in a coma. I think he's suffered brain damage or something and can't do anything. He's now alone, and his friend, his head is 'hollow'.
