@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Hey will you stay awhile
My smile will not mislead you
Cause I've been alone
My faith turned to stone
Still there's something in you I believe in
Close to the pierce I go wild and fierce
Still I let you be, I feel you next to me
Cause inside I feel a wind that starts to blow
I'm taken in your undertow
Everything is fine, I'm lonely all the time
Cause all I want to do is be there
For the things that you're going through
Well, is it good for you, is it good for you
Cause you haunt my nights when
I don't know where my life should go
Well, is it good for you, is it good for you
Hey child please stay a while
My smile will not mislead you
Cause I've been without, I go wild with doubt
I grab at you, I can't stop grabbing at you
Cause I feel you cross my mind
In disarray, intoxicated ricochet
There's nothing wrong just don't take too long
Cause all I want to do is be there
For the things that you're going through
Well, is it good for you, is it good for you
Cause you haunt my nights when
I don't know where my life should go
My smile will not mislead you
Cause I've been alone
My faith turned to stone
Still there's something in you I believe in
Close to the pierce I go wild and fierce
Still I let you be, I feel you next to me
Cause inside I feel a wind that starts to blow
I'm taken in your undertow
Everything is fine, I'm lonely all the time
Cause all I want to do is be there
For the things that you're going through
Well, is it good for you, is it good for you
Cause you haunt my nights when
I don't know where my life should go
Well, is it good for you, is it good for you
Hey child please stay a while
My smile will not mislead you
Cause I've been without, I go wild with doubt

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
Am I the only one who sees this and thinks of someone talking to their child? I get the feeling that the father doesn't have a good relationship with the son - he keeps messing everything up and his son harbors grudges against him for that, which he feels are justified even if he finds them difficult to live with. The father wants to put himself back together and be there for the son, whose anger is making him into an angry young boy, but his son won't have any of it. So it's about how he hopes he'll come around eventually and understand that his father will always be there, no matter what.
This is basically a song about a one sided relationship. He's crazy about her, she gets him through hard nights, but she doesnt feel the same. This leads him to beg the question, is this fucked up set-up "good for you?"
This song is completely relatable to me. It's absolutely beautiful. It's like there's this guy that just wants to be there for this girl, but she won't let them in. He cares for her so much but she won't, she can't feel the same way. She is afraid of something. He is constantly thinking of her...she haunts his nights. He acts like nothing is wrong, but inside he is dieing. He can't let go, he never gives up hope that one day this girl will let him be there for her again. This is what i'm feeling right now, exactly except switch the girl and the guy around. This is one of the saddest songs I've heard in quite awhile.
it
s not 'intoxicated RICOCHET' it
s 'intoxicated liquor-shade'.... I've always thought this song was about a stalker. o_o I read about it on a 3EB lyrics message board and I've kind of ascribed to that theory since. Yknow... "my smile will not mislead you"; "I grab at you, I can't stop grabbin at you", etc.
But I think Sweetygal16's interpretation is a lil more plausible. :-D
I have an acoustic version of this, and in the beginning Stephen says 'this is a gothic rock song about being a stalker'
But to me, its definetly about a failed relationship and about a person fighting to rekindle the relationship, I take this song to hear...its amazing
I feel like it describes a situation I'm in almost perfectly, besides the stalking part=) ~mike+
i cant believe noy many people have posted on this..the best part of the whole album is during this song. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh new cd comes out soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i really like this song, especially, "Cause I feel you cross my mind In disarray, intoxicated ricochet. There's nothing wrong just don't take too long" Sounds neat and has a good meaning. Don't take too long, please be with me soon.
Anyone else think this song was inspired by Smashing Pumpkins' Zero? It has the same hard edged gothic feel and the song subjects seem similar.
I always use to think it was "Cause you are the nights when I don't know where my life should go" not "Cause you haunt the nights...", I am a tad disappointed now.
