With fists raised high in tightened knots
The room explodes and now this blood is on your hands
And there is no time for a second chance
To paint my face with blood and tears and cover up
In an open book that no one reads
A misspelled word that no one know
You stole the rain
Then you turned around and tore my life in two
Just like the picture that once hung on the wall in the room that we used to share
So fold me up and put me back in the place where you used to keep your heart
You think its getting smaller?
It's been that way for quite some time now
The cadence beats down on the tar
It sounds the same as your fists raining down
(if you wanted to change the way I look at you...)
We've got to leave before the sun sets
Or maybe we don't have time(time to waste.)
It won't be long until you're gone into the night
You won't have time to paint my face with cover-up
The room explodes and now this blood is on your hands
And there is no time for a second chance
To paint my face with blood and tears and cover up
In an open book that no one reads
A misspelled word that no one know
You stole the rain
Then you turned around and tore my life in two
Just like the picture that once hung on the wall in the room that we used to share
So fold me up and put me back in the place where you used to keep your heart
It's been that way for quite some time now
It sounds the same as your fists raining down
(if you wanted to change the way I look at you...)
We've got to leave before the sun sets
Or maybe we don't have time(time to waste.)
It won't be long until you're gone into the night
You won't have time to paint my face with cover-up

wow, yeah this song is about child abuse... crazy i never realized that. The song is so deep now. I can't belive how some of these songs are just so goood and there about like i dunno, important topics rather than like heartbreak and stuff [important to society]. Anyways good song with a message.
damn! thursday is a band full of a bunch of freakin geniuses! this song is so deep. every word is so discriptive it's like i can see every action. it's kind of chilling! i can't WAIT to see them at the warped tour!!!
This is a really good song, but its meaning is very sad. Yes, it is about child abuse. If you read into the lyrics you can see that the meaning of specific lines are deeper than what is apparent on the surface. "An open book that no one reads" "A misspelled word that no one knows". These words describe someone who nobody pays attention to, cares nothing about, nor even understands. Typical of someone who would abuse a child because they are only concerned with their own interests. Very sad. It a powerful message delivered by a great band.
For another band with great lyrics similar to Thursday check out "Further Seems Forever”.
When I saw Thursday about 2 years ago, Geoff introduced this song by saying he used to have a friend who's mother beat him, and to hide the bruises, she'd put cover up over them. Sad stuff.
I really like the lyrics to this song. Thursday really has a way with words and this song proves it. "So fold me up and put me back in the place where you used to keep your heart" Everyone needs to see Thursday live, they kick ass!
This is my favorite song right now. Geoff's lyrics are so intense it's nearly impossible not to feel the words tearing you up inside. My favorite lines are: "In an open book that no one reads/ A misspelled word that no one knows." Those lines are just genius: something is obviously wrong and out in the open for everyone to see, but nobody is willing to acknowledge it. I guess it really is easy not to talk about the big elephant in the middle of the room.
Thursday rules!!! I can't wait to see them again next month.
This song has one of the best screaming parts ever. I love Thursday and until I got into Grade had not heard any bands like them that are any good. Great use of analogy and simile. Graphic, stirring, brilliant.
