Beguiled Lyrics

So swallow hard the serpent
Of many tags and faces hid in masks
Coiled 'round this lung until the last
He'll crack your boots young pagans
'Cause like you I was hatched to traipse on cold
And 17's a long drawn way from hope

And I've learned these lessons I was taught
Taut, so taught
And now I'm telling you

Return the faith
Return the faith
They're smashing out the veils
Return the faith
And there's no escape
So return the faith
With charging light brigades
Return the faith
You've gotta move

So as betrayed by rainbows
Here I convey I've sold out your dear cause
And the king has placed us in his jaws
It's sure no place can hold us
But in this scene I'm December
And your June's wretch
And my idyls lay gasping as if death

And I've learned these lessons I was taught
Taut, so taught
And now I'm telling you

Return the faith
Return the faith
They're smashing out the veils
Return the faith
And there's no escape
So return the faith
With charging light brigades
Return the faith
You've gotta move

Return the faith
Return the faith
Return the faith
Return the faith
Return the faith

The first verse tells about 90% of this song’s content.

So swallow hard the serpent Of many tags and faces hid in masks

— many famous people have “swallowed the serpent”, ie sold their soul to the devil, and they’re more common than you think (but hidden in masks)

Coiled 'round this lung until the last

— he’s done it too, and he’s stuck operating within the rules of the illuminati writing and singing lyrics in the vein of their purpose (lung = voice), and there’s no escape until he dies. He’s essentially owned by them.

He'll crack your boots, young pagans

—- warning to those young talents who want to become famous

'Cause like you I was hatched to traipse on cold

—- again, he admits he fell for it and was “re-born” into the illuminati, now he’s a slave, watching what he does at every moment to make sure he’s following the “rules”.

And seventeen's a long drawn way from hope

—- young ones have a long way to go before they die. Whether this means he sold his soul at 17 or telling young stars they’re too young to do this to themselves, I dunno. Some check out early because they can’t take it. The “27 club” is part of that.

And I'll learned these lessons I was taught Taut, so taut And now I'm telling you

— an obvious reflecting/condensing of verse 1 into what he’s doing here

Verse 2 :

So as betrayed by rainbows

—- not what he was promised

Here I convey I've sold out your dear cause

—- he’s blowing the whistle because he’s bitter

And the king has placed us in his jaws

—- he’s either 1) talking about the devil owning him/others for life…or 2) Jesus coming to judge all of those who have done this deed

It's sure no place can hold us

—- 1) they can’t hide from their “master” 2) they can’t enter heaven

Return the faith

—- at first I thought he was talking about forsaking Christianity…but he’s more likely talking about leaving their raw “deal” at the door and walking away from fame if you can, however late in the game.

They're smashing out the veils

—- they’re revealing their true selves and breaking the deals they’ve made, they don’t need to hide anymore because the time is at hand.

Return the faith And there's no escape

—- not if you have sold your soul, and as a personal note, haven’t accepted Christ as their savior.

Billy Corgan has been a major inspiration for me throughout my life. But as the lyrics got more cryptic and the shows more “sacrificial”, for lack of a better word (it’s straight up freemasonry), I realized he’s one of them. I don’t think he wants to be, but it’s too late. I won’t buy their records anymore.

@zerosoma33 lol. Nice story, bro.

@Sidewaze
zero content, nice

@zerosoma33 You said enough for us both.

Guile and Beguile is used throughout the Holy Bible. Eve said "The serpent beguiled me and I did eat" speaking to God when He asked "what is this though hast done?" (king James version) also referring to Jesus "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth" Also the apostle Paul said " Let no man beguile you. In this iteration & in the song's lyrics the word means; trick, fool, deceive. I think it's about being betrayed by our faith, our idols & how we rebound from that.

My Interpretation

@EternalTearsOfSorrow I’d agree mostly. Check out my breakdown and tell me what you think

@EternalTearsOfSorrow Well said. This makes a lot of sense.

This song makes me so happy! I felt it could be Superhero theme song, ya know? That super-power, high-tech cyberpunk vibe. Ok, lyrics... ah, right. 180° off. I had like a Gamora-type Heroine in my head but this is the villain. I get he's once betrayed so now the world pays for his lot in life. And he's building some sort of villain army? Do unto others as I do unto you? He has a smile on his face though. He enjoys this, like a drug. Could be a molester? Pro'ly. Thanks Billy for ruining this monster track! (I still love it.)
