Attack of the Mushroom People Lyrics
Their ship was wrecked, no way out
Panic struck, their food was gone
The island was bare, nothing to eat
Except the danger growing at your feet
Eternal life was the plan
Radiation not conceived by man
Something went wrong, his mind was fried
He´s gone for good, but he did not die
I've got to try some
I'd like to dye some
They made me buy some
Oh yeah
[Guitar solo]
[Spoken]
I had no choice
All that time, oh, it suffered with hunger
And then I lost her
I, I was confused
I couldn´t decide what to do
Then I ate them!
Last night I took a one-way ride
Something flying deep outside
Pressed against my windowpane
The mushroom people have come again!
Panic struck, their food was gone
The island was bare, nothing to eat
Except the danger growing at your feet
Eternal life was the plan
Radiation not conceived by man
Something went wrong, his mind was fried
He´s gone for good, but he did not die
I've got to try some
I'd like to dye some
They made me buy some
Oh yeah
[Guitar solo]
[Spoken]
I had no choice
All that time, oh, it suffered with hunger
And then I lost her
I, I was confused
I couldn´t decide what to do
Then I ate them!
Last night I took a one-way ride
Something flying deep outside
Pressed against my windowpane
The mushroom people have come again!

A slight correction to the lyrics:
Their ship was wrecked, no way out,
Panic struck, their food was gone,
The island was bare, nothing to eat,
Except the danger growing at your feet,
Eternal life was the plan,
Radiation - not conceived by man,
Something went wrong, his mind was fried,
He´s gone for good, but he did not die,
I've got to try some,
I'd like to die some,
They made me buy some,
Oh yeah...
[GUITAR SOLO]
[AUDIO HALLUCINATIONS / VOICES]
SPOKEN:
I had no choice,
All that time -oh!-,
And suffering,
with hunger,
And then I lost her,
I... I was confused,
I couldn´t decide what to do,
Then I ate them!
Last night I took a one-way ride,
Something flying [flat? black?] deep outside,
Pressed against my window pane,
The mushroom people have come again!
NOTE: the spoken part is taken word-for-word from the movie, near the end when the narrator is finishing telling his story, watch here at around 1:28:19 !

This song uses the freaky 1963 Japanese horror movie Attack of the Mushroom People (Japanese title: Matango; based on pre-WW1 scifi & horror master William Hope Hodgson's short story "The Voice In the Night"; rebooted for American audiences as Gilligan's Island) as a metaphor for peer pressure to try some magic mushrooms. Not surprisingly, our hero succumbs, and meets a questionable fate!
