Peach Lyrics

Who do you trust now?
They'll take your arms now
Then take your legs off
Then take my hands now
Who do you trust now?
They'll take your arms now
Then take your legs off
Then take my hands

Way out alone
I sat up cold
Can feel those crooked claws
Steal hope

Little man
Little man, I guess
Little hands
Show your taste
For all the gold in nome

Gentleman, he says, just grab that peach
Who will know?
Who do you trust?
Who do you?

Who do you trust now?
They'll take your arms now
Then take your legs off
Then take my hands now
Who do you trust now?
They'll take your arms now
Then take your legs off
Then take my hands

Who do you trust?
Who taught you?...

No conscious
No conscious
This narcissist with his conscious fits
No conscious
No conscious
This narcissist with his conscious fist

Who do you trust now?
They'll take your arms now
Then take your legs off
Then take my hands now
Who do you trust now?
They'll take your arms now
Then take your legs off
Then take my hands now

Who do you trust now?
They'll take my arms
Then take your legs
Then take my hands
Then take your hands
Who do you trust?

The narcissist's conscience
The narcissist's conscience
The narcissist's conscience
The narcissist

I think this song is about space, the whole album is essentially about this topic as you can read below. “Way out alone” as in alone in outer space “I sat up cold” It’s cold in space. Or it could be about a human on some kind of alien surgical table. “Gentlemen, he says, just grab that peach” I think the song overall might be about a mission to Mars gone wrong. Mars, while often referred to as the Red Planet, is actually kind of peachy in color.

Regarding the overall lyrical direction of "Niratias", vocalist Pete Loeffler said: "It has a lot of space to it, a lot of interstellar travel to it. You've got Elon Musk trying to get to Mars and that was completely fascinating to me so when I write lyrics, it's just kind of made its way in there. As you'll see with the cover, it's sort of space themed as well.

He added: "I love the idea of the cosmos and I love Carl Sagan and Elon Musk and Neil deGrasse Tyson and all these people that look beyond and look to the future. Getting off this planet is part of that future if we can do it. It's funny when you started to delve into it how difficult that really is. How are you gonna deal with radiation out in a spaceship for nine months or longer than that? It's fascinating. It just made its way into the music."

I think this one is about former President Trump. Yeah, he does have a space thing going on with this album, but it's space as a consistent metaphor.

Keep in mind that the other lead single, Self Destruct, was about climate change deniers, so this one being political isn't really that much more of a stretch.

"Way out alone I sat up cold Can feel those crooked claws Steal hope"

(writer wakes up from a nightmare)

"Little man Little man, I guess Little hands Show your taste For all the gold in nome"

(Little man - Trump was often portrayed as being short and fat, despite not being very short. He was frequently teased for having little hands, and for having very gaudy gold-everything. I believe "Nome" should be capitalized, Nome was the site a famous gold rush.)

"Gentleman He says, "Just grab that peach" Who will know? Who do you trust? Who do you?"

(The former President famously said, when speaking on taking advantage of women, that he could just "grab em by the p*ssy". Peach is a common substitute in pop-culture for vagina).

"Who do you trust now? They'll take your arms now Then take your legs off Then take my hands now Who do you trust now?"

(It's a common right wing talking point that "they", whether "they" is the left or immigrants, will take everything from right wing voters, as well as sewing mistrust in science and any non-conservative journalism. Who do you trust now?)

"No conscious No conscious This narcissist with his conscious fits"

(Former President was commonly referred to as The Narcissist by American late night and lacking a conscious by liberal op-eds. He threw "conscious fits" / temper tantrums on Twitter regularly.)

@QuietOcean I think that is very interesting and possibly one idea Pete could have had in mind, but I think the meaning is much deeper. Maybe he had that idea as a prelude that transitions into that real reason for why he wrote this song. So.etimes I feel like Pete trys to challenge us to search for more than what the obvious seems to be. I believe every song Pete has written are tied togerher under one singluar concept that starts of easy and leads to something tthat ties everything as one.

I love that theory though and made...

as someone living under oppression of a dictator I feel this song so much. it's a great description how our government first cauterizes the people and make them absolutely weak and shallow.
