Brighter Side of Grey Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I'm writing this in case I'm gone tomorrow
I'm writing this in case I've moved along
There's something that I hope you'll remember
That life is not a game, it's a song

[Pre-Chorus]
So take the best parts of me
Locked away without the keys
And know that I'm forever by your side

[Chorus]
When the lights go down
Know that I am never far away
When the sun burns out
I'll be waiting on the brighter side of grey

[Verse 2]
If you're reading this, I know you're feeling sorrow
If you're hearing this, I know you're probably scared
Just know that all the things you want are borrowed
And all you get to keep is all you've shared

[Pre-Chorus]
So wipe away the tears for me
Know that we've made history
Remember no one ever really dies

[Chorus]
When the lights go down
Know that I am never far away
When the sun burns out
I'll be waiting on the brighter side of grey

[Instrumental Break]

[Chorus]
When the lights go down
Know that I am never far away
When the sun burns out
I'll be waiting on the brighter side of grey

It sounds like to me that it's in a form of a suicide note from a loved one.

To me it sounds more like a memoir to a loved one such as his kid. Pretty much like he's realized life is short and it can end at any given moment. he wants whoever he wrote it for to know how much he cared for them, and for them to know he's still with them should his light be extinguished.

I believe that this a letter oh some kind. Suicide, memoir, final wishes, or just a song. It conveys a person's life, telling the recipient that you can move on and that they want to become a pleasant memory. With lyrics like" if you're reading this your probably feeling sorrow." and " So take the best parts of me, locked away without a key, just know that I'm always by your side." It's a Letter telling them that they have to move on and look on the Quote "Brighter side of grey."

My Opinion

It does at first sound like a suicide note but listening to the entire song I don't believe that is the case. It's more a last message to loved ones after your death, possibly unexpected, that you don't wish them to mourn and to remember you always. Reminds me of A Tout Le Monde by Megadeth which is a song saying goodbye to the world because the person had a terminal illness and was about to go.
