Hollow echo’s of war words on the ruby lips of long forgotten lovers
Like falling angels linger of the fringes of the shadows of my mind
Finally thinking how the traffic on the rainy street just sounds like bacon frying
I come a far journey from my home

Oh regrets attack my mind dealing justice like some trucking drunken vigilante
They scorch my soul to ashes, like a lump of granite hangin in my throat
If there weren’t only miles between us, I’d call a cab and be by your side by morning
But its years that's come between us and time has a distance all its own
I come a far journey from my home

Chorus:
I come a far journey from my home to this place I lay all alone
Staring at the ceiling, sifting through the chances I’ve blown
I come a far journey from my home

I stare into my mind at strange designs cast upon my closed eyelids
And I think of you and wonder if you thought of me last Thursday when it rained
Perhaps if I had more cognac, I’d conjure up the courage girl to call you
But my bottle has gone empty, and it’s late and this old place ain’t got no phone
I come a far journey from my home

Chorus:
I come a far journey from my home to this place I lay all alone
Staring at the ceiling, sifting through the chances I’ve blown
I come a far journey from my home
I come a far journey from my home

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing

Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
