I don't believe the singer, on a spiritual journey, is singing about escape through cannabis. He wants to vaporize his inner world to transcend with the healing dimensions of Ayahuasca. His pain takes him to the Amazon where in search of a shaman he sleeps out in the pouring rain in his jungle trek. The title song "Spirit", also speaks with the singer's strong desire for a life altering experience guiding him to higher places and his purpose.
