Windows Are Rolled Down Lyrics
The world is born
Shoe's untied
And your soles are worn
Sun is setting high
Windows are rolled down
I'm fixin' to die
This rocky road and this steering wheel
Who do you call to ease your pain
I hope for you to get through this rain
Moon is hanging low
Windows are rolled down
Think it's time for me to go hey-ay-ay-a...-ay
Are you locked up in this fantasy
Oh this miles that have
torn us apart
My new found faith
and my broken heart
Sun is rising high
Windows are rolled down
Feel that wind rushing by hey-ay-ay-a...

i feel like this is someone looking back on a past relationship and it looks like it might not have ended well. whoever the person is in this song is rediscovering their past--maybe it their old town where they grew up. who ever it is is reminiscing of how things used to be. they're realizing the past is the past but seems to still have trouble getting over his lost love. they're "locked up in this fantasy" because they're not letting life roll forward. though this is sort of a sullen song, rolling the windows down seems to be a form of hope, a new beginning that's on the rise.

I completely agree. In a way, it seems like he is rediscovering his past so that he can let it go. When he says 'feel the wind rushing by' I take it as he's letting go of the emotional connectors to his past.

I think this song is written from the perspective of someone who has a terminal illness and they're speaking to someone who they had a rocky relationship with earlier in their life. I get the feeling it's a close family member that they had a falling out with and have become estranged from. The narrator is going to die soon and they just want that person to have peace when they die and not to feel sad and have regrets.
I think the lines
Who do you call to ease your pain I hope for you to get through this rain
The narrator knows that person loves them and he/she hopes they have a good support system to help them through their dying.
The line "My newfound faith and my broken heart" kills me. I think it's because many people become more spiritual and religious as they get near the end of their lives (hence newfound faith) but they are broken-hearted to be leaving their loved ones.
@Surlyglamrock exactly! I fell like I almost would have interpreted this song in the same way! A heart felt lyric, with deep meaning

Mission Bell is one of the best albums ever.

writer seems to have a co addictive relationship and wants to bring them both out. The lover can't seem to let go in spite of the efforts of the writer showing them the way. At some point we all have to fly away from toxicity no matter who we have to leave behind..

This guy has some real issues with people who he thinks is after his money. He victimizes himself after throwing them out of roll down windows from a car.
Soles of shoes being worn is a not so cleverizing way of of depicting the age old saying of your shoes got holes. Meaning you looking for a rich man to marry, bitches and dawgs you ain’t gettin my money an I think it’s cool that I tripped you up cause YOUR SHOES ARE UNTIED.
Whatever’s!!! Move on from the complaint of you jus want my money honey! Boo hoo hoo hoo! No one gets nuthin for free no more you too damn old to be free whore one way or another suck up the whoring around,
Windows are rolled down, is sung to his supposed lover, that he actually done wrong, I’m free From people saying I’m wicked cause I fproved to myself what you are really about is getting my money and living off the fat of my lap. Just another boohoo for me song victimize the poor self while beating up the broken hearts. Then laugh like a nasty hyena.
That’s how I’m going to see you bitch!

It’s about living and dying. It’s a eulogy song.

It\'s about life. \nChildhood innocence and coming of age.\nUntied shoes seek freedom but with the worn soles of expectations not met.\nA journey driving the rocky road with challenges like navigating the rain.\nLife sustaining -- corn, sun and moon companions.\nThat person who you hoped would fill the tiny deep hole inside of you. \nNew found faith contemplates the life cycle.\nWindows rolled down lets the air in. \nWindows rolled down contemplates the life inside of you.\nThere is no key to any door. The windows were already rolled down.

I think literally, its about actually driving, down a road, on a long trip, with the windows rolled down, holding on to the stirring wheel, & parallels life to the road, the car & the scenery.\n A part of him is dyeing and a part is born, "Look up Child" & reflecting, thinking, analyzing, soul searching, emotions are High as the Sun setting high! sees a corn field. \nRiding, feeling, reflections & REVALATIONS!! \n\nWhat ever it means... I Love this song!!! \n\nAnd..to me, the windows are the passage way to another Dimension, the afterlife... That\'s what windows mean in dreams. The other side! & when they are open, you can pass through. Peace!
