It seems I am a little off Kilter
but it tends to happen
when you become center of
something you don't want to be involved in

so i'm a little off
muddled and confused
you say i'm unconventional
but you don't even really know me do you?

so... swollen and...
misrepresented again
god I hate it when
you try to tell them who i am... so wrong

I will play what I wish
and say what I want
that is my only need
for this music to evolve, and become
more

more is what I want my music to express
more than my self
I don't want a new car
or need a new home
forget fame, I don't want to be one of them

all I want is my music to understand me
take my bass and lay all day in the backseat
play away just to be happy, nothing more
nothing more is what I need

the harmonica has been lost
for as long as my power has been out
but I don't mind, I play my bass
and lose track of time

it's not so lonely with this...
it's not so lonely with it here
cold outside, not bad in the car
this bass never got me far
but it gives me what I need
happiness, expression
no need for greed

it's not so lonely here
it's not so lonely with this...

crack of the asphalt beneath my feet
I took a little stroll down the street
hope to find myself, and understand
wander a seeming foreign land
I try to be good, I try to stay happy
don't think too much and just keep walking
I know nothing of where I am
by the looks of it I am sure I don't want to
my bass is so quiet only I can hear
it's not so lonely with this here
holding it tight I’ll have no fear

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
