My Priority

Fate picked me out,
Left me without a shadow of a doubt,
A stranger told me that she gave me a shout,
I didn’t hear.
She said I looked familiar,
I said, “Whatever you’re selling, I’m not buying,”
I turned to walk away as she kept on trying.
I know that might sound mean,
But from this day forth,
I’m my priority,

I didn’t see him but I heard him flee
From the street where she lay crying
With blood on her chest. Her purse was gone,
She was sure that she was dying.
I was useless, I just paced that empty street,
And gathered up her scattered stuff,
She said, “don’t worry, you’ve done everything you can,
You’ve done more than enough.”
I know it sounds obscene,
But from this day forth,
I’m my priority,

Got so many things to change and I’m starting with me,
I need to give my head a shake, become all that I can be,
I need to shift my focus on to things I can achieve,
I need to rein shit in and stop wearing my heart upon my sleeve,
I know at times it’s gonna be hard,
But I’ll be strong, I know I won’t fall apart,
And you might find it hard to believe,
