One by one we light the candles of this show
One by one, enter the theatre of the primal birth
Silently watch the planetary curtain go down
Laugh and rejoice, as the powerful play greets you tonight
We are the Edema Ruh
We know the songs the sirens sang
See us dream every tale true
The verse we leave with you will take you home
We'll give you a key to open all of the gates
I'll show you a sea of starlight to drown all your cares
Mirrorhouses, the sweetest kisses and wines
A Debussy dialogue between wind and the roaring sea
We are the Edema Ruh
We know the songs the sirens sang
See us dream every tale true
The verse we leave with you will take you home
Dance to the whistle, to the play, to the story
To infinite encores
Laugh at the royalty with sad crowns
And repeat the chorus once more

This song takes place in the universe of the book series The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. The main character Kvothe is a member of a traveling perfoming group called the edema ruh. They pride themselves as accomplished actors, story tellers, musicians, and singers. People look down on them, assuming they are all theives and generally criminals (they aren't), yet the songs they sing and tales they tell are repeated throughout the world.
The song doesn't talk about specifics of the books, instead it's a prideful ballad simply about them setting the stage for a play at night.
@Megajosh Why people look down on them and assume they are thieves and criminals, when the group just sings and writes? Sorry that I haven't read the book. Guess it'll be great to read it when listening to this song.

You can certainly look at this song as a tribute to the band itself. This is song is about the group of travelers telling stories and singing song, entertaining people, songs that everyone repeat over and over. Edema Ruh is Nightwish.

TL;DR: Mischievous and greedy troupes that pickpocket and cause trouble whereever they perform have collectively given all troupes a bad name, including the Edema Ruh in some places, despite their good reputation.
There are many performing caravans in the Name of the Wind universe, and the majority have collectively given nomadic performers a bad reputation. The reason for this being that they cause or induce unnecessary and typically damaging (to the town) commotion, and many tend to pickpocket as well: some of the caravan members will perform while the others run off and do all manners of unsavory deeds involving looting.
The Edema Ruh are a more revered collection of troupes, each caravan considered to be a family (occasionally by blood, Kvothe is with his parents in his troupe). They have traditions that keep them close and tight-knit. The common person is still skeptical of the Edema Ruh, though. Some troupes can be funded by a wealthy patron (Kvothe's by Baron Greyfallow), where they can use their name and wear their colors to ensure that suspicion is overcome everywhere they go, as well as receive funding and travel freely under his/her protection. Despite this, many are still wary of the Edema Ruh.
