We're not, no we're not friends, nor have we ever been
We just try to keep those secrets in a lie
And if they find out, will it all go wrong?
And Heaven knows, no one wants it to

So I could take the back road
But your eyes will lead me straight back home
And if you know me like I know you
You should love me, you should know that

Friends just sleep in another bed
And friends don't treat me like you do
Well I know that there's a limit to everything
But my friends won't love me like you
No, my friends won't love me like you

We're not friends, we could be anything
If we try to keep those secrets safe
No one will find out if it all went wrong
They'll never know what we've been through

So I could take the back road
But your eyes'll lead me straight back home
And if you know me like I know you
You should love me, you should know that

Friends just sleep in another bed
And friends don't treat me like you do
And I know that there's a limit to everything
But my friends won't love me like you
No, my friends won't love me like you

But then again, if we're not friends
Someone else might love you, too
And then again, if we're not friends
There'd be nothing I could do, and that's why

Friends should sleep in other beds
And friends shouldn't kiss me like you do
And I know that there's a limit to everything
But my friends won't love me like you
No, my friends won't love me like you do
Oh, my friends will never love me like you

    My Interpretation

i think the song is about two people that are in love, but they aren't dating. it is obvious they like each other, but they are just friends, and that means that someone else could love them, and there is nothing the other person could do. It is saying that friends should not be as close, but no one will love one of them like there friend.

I think this song is a bit self-explanatory, but I'll give my take on it.

To me, this song tells of a complicated, forbidden love story. There is a special love that binds the two together, the kind that needs no label. The narrator expresses their frustration and sadness over this branding. The two are labeled as, "friends" when their love is too powerful to name. However, in their twisted situation, if they were to show just how Strong their love for each other was, they would run the risk of everything falling apart. Even if they were able to, no one would ever really know the true extent.

"So I could take the back road, But your eyes'll lead me straight back home. And if you know me like I know you, You should love me, you should know."

I could try and pretend there is nothing more between us, but I'm always going to end up needing you, and if you really loved me to the extent that I love you, you would know this.

What the two have goes beyond just, "friendship." The love that binds them is more than anyone could ever know, and the narrator is tired of the branding. I feel the last bridge and chorus is the narrator questioning their lack of labels. If they're not friends, then what are they? Would a label save what they have, rather than destroy it?

What they have is stronger than any friendship or ordinary love.

"I know that there's a limit to everything, But my friend's won't love me like you."

The narrator knows there has to be a limit somewhere in what they have, but they know it does not stop at just, "friends."

I think the song is about 2 people who started spending time together cause they were lonley. And they were something like friends but with time passing by they became more closer and started doing stuff that couples do, like cuddling and sleeping together, but they didn't kiss or have sex. They fell in love and with some reason they didn't became lovers but they wanted to. Perhaps they were afraid of being vulnerable.

    Song Meaning

I think this song is about Ed's friends Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles. They both have feelings for each other and may even be together but they can't let anyone know that they're more that just friends because their management company won't let them. idk that's my take on it

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Head > Heels

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
