Given the band's name and the lyrics of the song, I assume it is some kind of commentary on the futility of trying, by punitive law, to regulate addictive behavior. The band's name I'm pretty sure is about the futility and stupidity of our nation's decades-long "war on drugs," which has done nothing to lower the appetite for drugs or deal with problems of addiction. But then our 14-year "war on terror," i.e. a war on an abstract concept, has made a mess of things and a more dangerous, not less dangerous, world. Will our genius politicians and policy makers ever develop a shred of common sense or humility. The evidence is not reassuring.
