Wait for your call, love
The call never came
Ready to fall up
Ready to claim

And I'm ready for it all, love
Ready for a pain
Meet under sun and
Meet me again
In the rain
In the rain
In the rain
The rain

Behind the walls, love
I'm trying to change
And I'm ready for it all, love
I'm ready for the change
Meet me in blue sky
Meet me again
In the rain
The rain, the rain
In the rain
The rain

Got to find yourself alone in this world
To find yourself alone

This song is about needing to embrace the dark times in life as well as the good times. Everything that happens to you as a person is meant to happen. And once you accept that then maybe life becomes more enjoyable, or calmer.

There is a Japanese art form called Kintsugi. This is where bits of pottery are broken up and then put back together again, but with gold. The last refrain "You've got to find yourself alone" essentially details this; that everyone at some point needs to be broken up to realise that once you're put back together again, you can be better - and life goes on.

    My Interpretation

This could be of someone in the need of someone to love. He's ready for all. Waiting. But he feels that it never going to happen. "Got to find yourself alone in this world. You've got to find yourself alone"

    This song is about isolation.

The songwriter knows with certainty the consequence of lonesome. So despite the rejection he is faced with...he sides with hope and continues to pursue.

On the other side of the coin... The subject of the song seems aloof to the fact that the consequence of being unreliable and unresponsive in a relationship results in isolation.

It's the damb formidable place that takes with out remorse and a place you occupy in public space with out pity or nary an acknowledgement.

    Surrounded...yet alone.

"Got to find yourself alone in this world...got to find yourself alone"

The subject is on their way to where the songwriter has been.

    They just don't know it.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
