Hunter Eats Hunter Lyrics
I grabbed a flashlight
Just like I always do
A damp sorta night
And now I'm telling you
Well I saw a pair of eyes
And I'm sure they saw me too
Well don't never, never run
Hell yes I'm going to
(Chorus)
How long, should I feel like bait now
Wide open, careful where the mind goes
Moonlight a superstitious glow
If it's my time well I'm going out alone
You ever try to hold your breath
Well here's a tip don't follow through
Ya feared that nightmares never end
And now it seems it's coming true
No one should see what I have seen
It's up to you with weakened knees
That little creep just grabbed my arm
It's gonna be the longest night
Chorus (Repeat)
Night, you're a friend of mine, another family
Better not divide, any, armed, with its beastly doom
I'll beat this jackal down, this interference ends
Send it back beyond
When hunter, meets hunter, this hunter, eats hunter
Chorus (Repeat)
If it's my time
Well I'm going out alone (x3)
Just like I always do
A damp sorta night
And now I'm telling you
Well I saw a pair of eyes
And I'm sure they saw me too
Well don't never, never run
Hell yes I'm going to
How long, should I feel like bait now
Wide open, careful where the mind goes
Moonlight a superstitious glow
If it's my time well I'm going out alone
Well here's a tip don't follow through
Ya feared that nightmares never end
And now it seems it's coming true
No one should see what I have seen
It's up to you with weakened knees
That little creep just grabbed my arm
It's gonna be the longest night
Better not divide, any, armed, with its beastly doom
I'll beat this jackal down, this interference ends
Send it back beyond
Well I'm going out alone (x3)

“I talk about chance encounters with gargoyles while taking out the trash at night. This is very deep stuff." - Pete Loeffier
I think this is that song
If you go on Spotify, Sam has commentary for each song. I saw that quote on VEVO that you posted. And Sam further confirmed that the song was about him encountering a mythical creature when taking the trash out at night.

It's interesting how such a candid conversation concept can be implemented into such a badass song.

The song was initially titled The Gargoyle, but was changed after the chose the official album title.

Here is what I hear from this song.
He ended up outside for whatever reason and saw the eyes of a predator (or hunter) and that predator can be whatever.
Then it goes on to describe the fear. People say don't run, but that usually gets thrown out the window when you are actually in danger.
You feel like bait because its just watching you, and you need to keep focused on the situation (careful where the mind goes). I'm not super sure on the final line of the chorus. Maybe its about ending up dying alone?
Trying to hold your breath to be quiet or still, is harder than it seems. Don't try it. Then it describes the fear intensifying and then it appears the "Hunter" makes its move toward the guy (just grabbed my arm).
Then, it sounds like to me, the guy realizes he's going to have to fight his way out of this. (I'll beat this jackal down) Send it back beyond meaning obviously to kill it.
Then the showdown begins... "Hunter Meets Hunter" "Hunter Eats Hunter"
That's how I think of it. This song is really great and intense.
Not sure the entire song is a metaphor for the brother Joe feud, but the bridge part..night, you're a friend of mine, another family better not divide, any, armed, with its beastly doom, i'll beat this jackal down, this interference ends, i'll send it back beyond, I think is a message from Pete to Joe.
This game reminds me so much of the game Bloodborne. LOL. I think that's the real meaning.
This song feels like a movie :)
This song would be perfect for the Supernatural tv show.
