Tears in the Rain Lyrics

They all feel the same
Adjust to the fame
Because no one will love you like her
It's pointless
Like tears in the rain
So now that she's gone
Embrace all that come
And die with a smile
Don't show the world how alone you've become

When it's said and done
I already felt love
And I let it end up
End up dying by itself
And when it's said and done
You were better off
You deserve real love
And I deserve to be by myself
Because I've gone too far
And I started too young
To give up
And even if I changed
It would be too late
I exposed my ways
Now every girl I touch (they all feel the same)

I should've let you leave
But, I let you watch me slip away
I could've set you free
But, I'm selfish
I watched you stay

She has no recollection
Of the life she had without me
She let it slip away, away, away
It's so sad it had to be this
She forgot the good things about me
She let it slip away, away, away

This song is incredibly beautiful and painful - much like the majority of his music. I interpret this song being about true love that he once had, and lost. He took her for granted, and everyone since then, has not compared.

"When it's said and done I already felt love And I let it end up End up dying by itself And when it's said and done You were better off You deserve real love And I deserve to be by myself"

I also feel as though as he is singing to himself a bit - almost like the analytical side of him is looking at the person who acted foolishly.

"They all feel the same (ooh ooh ooh) Adjust to the fame (adjusted to the fame) 'Cause no one will love you like her It's pointless (no one's gonna love me) like tears in the rain"

My Interpretation

I think he could actually be referring to how since he has become an internationally famous superstar, that nothing feels the same with the fame; but he chose the fame instead of alternatives(could be a girl) . Whatever it was he chose the fame and now nothing will ever be the same... not even a woman's touch or love. No longer will he have a woman want him for his love/heart (only alternative superficial motives: money, sex w/ famous guy, gold diggers); nothing feels the same with the fame he chose to pursue. One time he even he's felt how real love felt, but never again, but he chose to go with the fame (possibly regretting on it) ... That's my interpretation at least...
