A soft sound
To the way she wears her hair down
Covering up her face
Oh what a let down
I don't seem to be having any effect now
Falling all over the place

But you're losing your words
We're speaking in bodies
Avoiding me and talking 'bout you
But you're losing your turn
I guess I'll never learn
Cause I stay another hour or two

For crying out loud, settle down
You know I can't be found with you
We get back to my house
Your arms, my mouth
Now I just stop myself around you

A small town
Dictating all the people we get around
What a familiar face
Do you get what I mean now?
I'm so fixated on the girl with the soft sound
And hair all over the place

But you're sure that I'd learn
I'm pushing through bodies
Avoiding me and walking around you
But you're cold and I burn
I guess I'll never learn
Cause I stay another hour or two

For crying out loud, settle down!
You know I can't be found with you
We get back to my house
Your arms, my mouth
Now I just stop myself around you

A soft sound
To the way she wears her hair down
Covering up her face
Oh what a let down,
I don't seem to be having any effect now
Falling all over the place

But you're losing your words
We're speaking in bodies
Avoiding me and talking 'bout you
But you're losing your turn
I guess I'll never learn
Cause I stay another hour or two

For crying out loud, settle down!
You know I can't be found with you
We get back to my house
Your arms, my mouth
Now I just stop myself around you

For crying out loud

    General Comment

all the comments have given me a different perspective of the song, and have completely changed interpretation of the song meaning, but what I originally thought was the complete oppisot and thought that it was the boy (Matty) knows he can't be around the girl.

I felt like the lyrics were about a girl who seemed to rush into a relationship with Matty and had fallen completely head over heels for him. But she had an attitude, and was afriad of loosing him because of what she had heard in the past, she was quiet but cold toward him. "You're cold and I burn, I guess i'll never learn cause I stay another hour or two" Her words are as sharp as knives but he knows it's only because she's afriad to lose him and knows his past, and although they argue he stays another few hours.

She goes back to his house, and they have sex. "Now I just stop myself around you" makes me think he cut her off a few days/weeks later, she's hysterical and feels used and upset. "For crying out loud, settle down, you know I can't be found with you" is his response. "a small town, dictating all the people we get around, what a familiar face" He knows he can't be found with her, he might truely like the girl but he's well known in there small town, and people take notice of who he is, he knows he can't be found with her because people around will judge and start talking. So he now stops himself around her. He doesn't want to lead her on, and he knows he can't be found with her.
