FuckMyLife666 Lyrics
The ease of your pose, the grace of your silhouette
The way that your shoulders meet your slender neck
Where would we be without all the distance?
You know I'm already just a skeleton
I don't have the heart to match the one pricked into your finger
All things made to be destroyed
All moments meant to pass
Don't wanna live without teeth
Don't wanna die without bite
I never wanna say that I regret it
Never wanna say that we grew apart
And never wanna say that the feelings changed
I don't have the heart to match the one pricked into your finger
All things made to be destroyed
All moments meant to pass
Chipped nail polish and a barbed wire dress
Is your mother proud of your eyelashes,
Silicone chest, and collagen lips?
How would you even recognize me?
I don't have the heart to match the one pricked into your finger
All things made to be destroyed
All moments meant to pass
I don't have the heart to match the one pricked into your finger
No more troubled sleep, there's a brave new world that's raging inside of me
I don't have the heart to match the one pricked into your finger
This, too, will soon slip out of reach
This, too, will soon come to an end
The way that your shoulders meet your slender neck
You know I'm already just a skeleton
All things made to be destroyed
All moments meant to pass
Don't wanna die without bite
I never wanna say that I regret it
Never wanna say that we grew apart
And never wanna say that the feelings changed
All things made to be destroyed
All moments meant to pass
Is your mother proud of your eyelashes,
Silicone chest, and collagen lips?
How would you even recognize me?
All things made to be destroyed
All moments meant to pass
No more troubled sleep, there's a brave new world that's raging inside of me
This, too, will soon slip out of reach
This, too, will soon come to an end

"i don't have the heart to match the one pricked into your finger" - the singer Laura's wife has a heart tattooed on her ring finger below her wedding ring.
it's about the tension between them
it's about the tension between them
Such a great song. I think the meaning of growing apart is pretty obvious. Likely also as shes changed into who she is shes shes been distanced from her old self and also the people who didn't handle the transition very well.
All things made to be destroyed, all moments meant to pass.
Can't wait to see Laura on this winter tour.
As well as being exactly what you said, the meaning works for anyone who has grown apart from anyone. It applies to anyone, not just because of Laura's transition even though that's undoubtedly the main meaning behind it (silicone chest, collagen lips etc). Lines like "All things made to be destroyed, all moments meant to pass" and the whole "Don't wanna live without teeth, die without bite" stanza are indicative of this.

"Fuckmylife666 was written back in July, and it’s directly about my relationship with Heather and just feeling like you’re not sure of the person you are turning into, really feeling the fear that this decision is gonna make you ugly. It’s gonna challenge the person you are in a lot of ways." http://themusic.com.au/interviews/all/2014/01/15/against-me-laura-jane-grace-bailey-lions/23000/
I love how this opens. These lines say so much about Laura's love and admiration for Heather.
"The ease of your pose, the grace of your silhouette The way that your shoulders meet your slender neck . . . I don't have the heart to match the one pricked into your finger"
I know nothing about Heather beyond some online photos, but she does come across as a beautiful soul to me. The expressions on her face seem so honest. Maybe I'm just projecting Laura's feelings onto her image. She did a good job of describing how much Heather means to her with this song.
This is another part that really gets me:
"Never wanna say that we grew apart And never wanna say that the feelings changed"
She knows the value of these emotional bonds and wants to work to maintain them, even though profound changes in their relationship are inevitable.
Laura said in an interview that their friend who had died often said "fuckmylife666". I think that brings some sort of a different vibe to the song, maybe the person being talked to here is that friend. The line "Where would we be without all the distance? You know I'm already just a skeleton" could suggest the friend aspect, though the skeleton being not the one who died but the one who still lives and has changed, the skeleton being their old self. The whole song definitely has a feeling that the questions are being asked from someone who the narrator hasn't seen (or been) in a long time or feels distanced from. There also seems to be a reference to being in a changing relationship "I never wanna say that I regret it, never wanna say that we grew apart and never wanna say that the feelings changed" but I don't think the relationship is ending, just needs a lot of will to make it through.
