Collapsible Lung Lyrics
Between the miles of open roads
I lost sight of what might matter the most
I stumbled into the great unknown and found
That time won't slow down
I'm getting by with my collapsible lung
And it's a good time 100% of the time and now
Like a ladder with a missing rung
It's a slow climb headed back to the sky and now
Felling backwards when I'm trying the most
And I hope I haven't head the last words from the Holy Ghost
Cause I think that I'm suppose to be well on my way by now
I do the twist with my replaceable hips
And turn you right round
Then dig you down to the ground and now
I wan't to grow old and rub your tired limbs
And take it easy
Until we whither away
Until we whither away
Between the miles of open roads
I lost sight of what might matter the most
I stumbled into the great unknown and found
That time can't slow down
Take a breath and then take it in
To think places I'll go I haven't been
To pour my heart into everything
I've found time won't slow down
I'm feeling backwards
And I hope I haven't heard the last words
No no no
Cause I think that I'm suppose to be well on my way
oh oh oh oh oh
To pour my heart into everything I've found
Between the miles of open roads
I lost sight of what might matter the most
I stumbled into the great unknown and found
Time won't slow down
So take a breath and then take it in
To think places I'll go I haven't been
I lost sight of what might matter the most
I stumbled into the great unknown and found
That time won't slow down
And it's a good time 100% of the time and now
Like a ladder with a missing rung
It's a slow climb headed back to the sky and now
And I hope I haven't head the last words from the Holy Ghost
Cause I think that I'm suppose to be well on my way by now
And turn you right round
Then dig you down to the ground and now
I wan't to grow old and rub your tired limbs
And take it easy
Until we whither away
Until we whither away
I lost sight of what might matter the most
I stumbled into the great unknown and found
That time can't slow down
To think places I'll go I haven't been
To pour my heart into everything
I've found time won't slow down
And I hope I haven't heard the last words
No no no
Cause I think that I'm suppose to be well on my way
oh oh oh oh oh
Between the miles of open roads
I lost sight of what might matter the most
I stumbled into the great unknown and found
Time won't slow down
To think places I'll go I haven't been

Anyone noticed how the first 10 songs on the album are very shallow, worldly and disjointed, very much unlike Relient K? Well, that's the idea. Forget and Not Slow Down was an amazing album that Matt wrote after his fiancé left him. This album is kind of a Part 2 in a way. "Between the miles of open roads" Matt "lost sight of what might matter the most" (which is God) in order to try and find the same love that his ex-fiancé gave him. However, he kinda redeems himself in this final track, saying that he hopes he hasn't heard the last words from the Holy Ghost.
Is the album up to par with Forget and Not Slow Down? Heck no, and it'll be hard for Relient K to ever top that album. The lyrics on this album might seem extremely shallow at first, but once you see the brutally honest meaning behind it, it's really a fantastic album.
Only a genious would be able to make a terrible album just to finish with such great song. I do believe Matt wrote the album to be essencially bad and hold a shallow message so that he could tell in the end that he's learning to deal with all the stuff he's felt and been through these past years. It seems now he's prepared to accept a spiritual renew in his life and we might get a more meaningful album next time.
I do hope he gets by with his collapsible lung.
