The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here Lyrics

Come to me I'll fill the hole
Why would I be lying
End fan, all planned out
Offering a wonderful
Peace of mind worth buying
Bow down last round up

I am wise and you don't know
A cloud is my home
Only some get in
Got a 'maginary friend

The devil put dinosaurs here
Jesus don't like a queer
The devil put dinosaurs here
No problem with faith just fear

Promise those who've gone before
Waitin' on you flyin'
Leading receiving us
I'm as flawed as any man
Look at me I'm smiling
Drink me, eat me up

I am wise and you don't know
A cloud is my home
Only some get in
Got a 'maginary friend

The devil put dinosaurs here
Jesus don't like a queer
The devil put dinosaurs here
No problem with faith just fear

I am wise and you don't know
A cloud is my home
Only some get in
Got a 'maginary friend

The devil put dinosaurs here
Jesus don't like a queer
The devil put dinosaurs here
No problem with faith

I've always loved AIC. Of course Staley will always be missed. AIC's music has always been laced with references to Christianity. Surprises me how those who seem to dislike Jesus talk about Him so much. It's not Jesus who is the problem; it's the many fools who misrepresent Him.

Religion is a bag of lies.

My Opinion

@Zolhaye Couldn't agree more. Jesus is perfectly fine, it's the so-called Christians that make it sound dumb and something to laugh at.

This song is Jerry poking holes at the way Religious groups messages and "commandments" are contradicted with their beliefs and actions. There is religious parties that believe the devil put dinosaur bones deep in the ground to confuse the faithful. And to the religions like catholicism and others that say to be loving to your brother and treat others the way you want to be treated but then go out and attack the gays for being an "abomination".

Amen, Brother LRey. :P this is completely true. <3 love the new album!

Jerry seems that he's an anti-Semite, he doesn't the mother of all religions, he hates Jews obviously and not only because they are hypocrites. He's hates their very culture and past which is tied to their religion.

My Opinion

Well, that's sad that you know nothing about Catholicism, but then again, you're probably American or sth and you guys do not have Catholicism in your country. Catholic religion does not say about "homosexuals being an abomination" - it respects ALL people, underlining that homosexuality is a sin, which for Catholics is. Just think for a moment before you write something. Catholicism HAS NEVER BEEN a religion of hate.

I think there's a very important line that no one is talking about.

"No problem with faith, just fear"

It's not just a song about the hypocracy of Christianity. It's really a song about how both sides of the religion argument (God/Science) are hypocritical and that the argument will never end. "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here) is a statement that means all science and religion do is cause arguments. I don't like the parts dissing Jesus, but the message is partially true. The argument just keeps going like an Energizer battery.

Jerry may have authored those lyrics, but the parts of the song where Jesus is "dissed" represent giving voice to those freaks who surround themselves with silly myths and hatred in an attempt at making sense out of life. Anyone who's read about Jesus' life knows he was never reported (I write reported because nothing he actually said was written down when he said it) to have said something terrible about homosexuals. Therefore, neither Jerry nor the song is dissing Jesus, but instead is meant to represent attitude of the fools who believes Jesus hated gays. (I like what...

@Grungeman No! he says "a 'maginary friend". That's what he thinks. God is imaginary

I feel like this is not only about trying to paint religious people as hypocrites but to emphasize that there will always be people who criticize religion and Christians. Definitely not their best song....

Keep in mind that your taste in music does not always have to line up with your beliefs. I am a Christian and I'm a big fan of Alice In Chains, as well as Nirvana, Tool, and Pearl Jam, all of whom have songs that openly criticize God and religion

@Alice_in_Soundweezer All of those grunge bands you mentioned are speaking through the esoteric language. None are artists of the language, only puppet speakers of a language written by faces they will never see. In grunge lies the language of ancient wisdom.

Is it possible that this song is pointing out that dinosaurs are fake?

It's cut and dry. Two significant lies told from birth.

Dinosaurs are a lie Jesus is a lie

Both inventions of Satan, who is very much real

[Edit: Lies]

Right on! Couldn't of said it better myself, from a reformed Irish Catholic girl.

@Michelle324 Sorry that was in response to DixonSydar who was responding to becca10000 since she likes pointing fingers as Christians always seem to do.

All you people saying sex is for procreation, so you don't have sex for enjoyment then. You only make babies.

He clearly says what he thinks of God here : "I am wise and you don't know A cloud is my home Only some get in Got a 'maginary friend"
