Warrior Lyrics

This is a story that I've never told
I gotta get this off my chest to let it go
I need to take back the light inside you stole
You're a criminal
And you still like you're fraud

All the pain and the truth
I wear like a battle wound
So ashamed so confused, I'm was broken and bruised

Now I'm a warrior
Now I've got thicker skin
I'm a warrior
I'm stronger than I've ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can't get in
I'm a warrior
And you can never hurt me again

Out of the ashes, burning like a fire
You can save your apologies, you're nothing but a liar
I've got shame, I've got scars
But I will never show
I'm a survivor
And always and you know

'Cause all the pain and the truth
I wear like a battle wound
So ashamed so confused, I'm not broken or bruised

Now I'm a warrior
Now I've got thicker skin
Now I'm a warrior
I'm stronger than I've ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can't get in
I'm a warrior
And you can never hurt me again

There's a part of me I can't get back
A little girl grew up too fast
All it took was once, I'll never be the same
Now I'm takin' back my life today
Nothing left that you can say
'Cause you were never gonna take the blame anyway

Now I'm a warrior
I've got thicker skin
I'm a warrior
I'm stronger than I've ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can't get it
I'm a warrior
And you can never hurt me again

Nooo oooh yeaaah yeaah

You can never hurt me again

Is clearly about sexual abuse. I'm so sorry for Demi and all she been through :( But i'm really proud of how strong she became.

My Opinion

I think this is about coming back stronger than ever. It's accepting your past and realizing that is doesn't need to be part of your future. It's about accepting the fact that you were in pain, accepting that someone hurt you, and becoming stronger from it all. It's about reminding yourself that you're stronger than you may sometimes believe.

I know Shouldn't Come Back is about her dad, but I think this is too.. it reminds me of For the Love of a Daughter, 'Little girl grew up too fast' and all the mentions of being ashamed and shame hint that it's about abuse. it's really beautiful. I feel like it's about telling her dad that she's moving past what he did to her as a kid and he won't be able ot hurt her again.

I thought that too :S

Kind of like what "iholdher" said, this song seems to be about her dad who left and tormented her family and herself. It truly is a beautiful song, and it means moving on from the past that once held you down. It's saying that you've become a part of your future and that person (in her case her father) will no longer have that hold on you and they cant get to you anymore. You've pushed them out of your life and you're moving on. And now you've become stronger in many ways.

I heard somewhere that she said that Warrior was a follow-up to Skyscraper. I don't remember where I just know that i heard her say it.

I can't find the exact place she said or was it in an article that i heard her say warrior is a follow up to skyscrapper.

But even if it is. It is truly a beauty.

In this, she says: "My family knows what it's about. When I'm ready to open up that subject with the outside world, then I'll be free to talk about it. But right now, it's kind of one of those things where the lyrics speak for me. It's all in the song."

That's exactly what I heard too. ah that's right I read in Cosmo. I actually still have my copy of the issue. I Just need to put it away so my mom doesn't throw it out.

I know Shouldn't come back is about her Dad but I think this song is about her past with self harm and depression "all the pain and the shame I wear like a battle wound" many people self harm to get rid of emotional pain and take out their shame in themselves.

My Interpretation

I think its about how her dad cant hurt her again, it may not be physical but emotional but my thoughts are he did hurt her physically as well. but shes a survivor because she cut and wanted to die but she stayed strong.

Song Meaning

I think it's about her past in general, not just her father or just the cutting. Of course, the cutting makes an appearance. "All the pain and the truth. I wear like a battle wound," is the major one. She wears the scars of her past, but not in shame. She's proud that she's been able to over-come so much, and they could now be a reminder of all she is capable of, and her own strength. The person mentioned in here, "You can never hurt me again," could be her father. In fact, I think it kind of is. But I really think the 'you' is her past, and it can't hurt her ever again because she is moving on to the future. She may always have the past with her, but she won't let it hurt her.

i admire and respect this song so much not just because its about such a touchy subject in teen lives today but because she not only talks about it she is speaking from past experience shes not just another person telling us how we shouldn't give up and it gets better but shes a survivor of it like she says in the song I'm a survivor in more ways then you know meaning shes had a lot to endure of stuff worse then you and i honestly don't think shes talking about her dad i think shes was actually raped by someone she knew but not her dad
