Jenny, darling, you're my best friend
But there's a few things that you don't know of
Why I borrow your lipstick so often
I'm using your shirt as a pillow case

I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead
I don't know how to say this
'Cause you're really my dearest friend

Jenny, darling, you're my best friend
I've been doing bad things that you don't know about
Stealing your stuff now and then
Nothing you'd miss but it means the world to me

I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead
I don't know how to say this
'Cause you're really my dearest friend
I wanna ruin our friendship
I don't know how to say this
'Cause you're really my dearest friend

Jenny take my hand
'Cause we are more than friends
I will follow you until the end
Jenny take my hand
I cannot pretend
Why I never like your new boyfriends

Oh, your love for them won't last long
Forget those amigos
Oh, your love for them won't last long
Forget those amigos
Forget those amigos

I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead
I don't know how to say this
'Cause you're really my dearest friend

Oh, your love for them won't last long
We should be lovers instead
Oh, your love for them won't last long
'Cause you're really my dearest friend

We should be lovers instead
'Cause you're really my dearest friend
Jenny

    Song Meaning

The singer is secretly in love with her best friend Jenny. She's too afraid to tell Jenny her feelings, but confesses to doing "bad things" just to feel closer to her friend; stealing lipstick, keeping her shirts, etc. Pretty straightforward. The line "forget those amigos" refers to Jenny's past and future boyfriends, or perhaps her entourage. Her fear of destroying the friendship or being shunned prevent her from confessing to Jenny herself.

    Song Meaning

The song "Jenny" is about a girl and her friend Jenny. The girl loves Jenny but has never been able to tell her because of some random reason, probably since she's scared, even though they already love each other, just not in the way the main characters wishes to. She does everything for her, including saving her from some predators that want to attack her, figuratively speaking, and this part is portrayed wonderfully in the music video, which I recommend to watch. At the end of the music video, Jenny sits alone with a pair of broken glasses in front of her, signalizing her new view on life. Maybe she finally fell in love for her friend? Or maybe her friend finally learned to become only bestest friends with Jenny. It's one own opinion, hope this helps!

    General Comment

This song is about the artist having strong feelings for his best friend,Jenny . I don't understand why he said,"Why I borrow your lipstick so often". Well, he wants to ruin their friendship because he REALLY wants Jenny and him to be more than friends. I'm assuming that Jenny has been there for him since she's his best friend and also his dearest friend. The artist is possibly jealous of her new boyfriends and he knows that they aren't the ones for her so her love for them won't last long.

Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
