Cape Of Our Hero

This is a quote from Micheal Poulsen in "Behind the Video: Part 1" for this song

"This song is about something that every guy can relate to somehow. You see a little kid have a strong fantasy and imagination about what he wants to be, and he wants to be a superhero."

Apparently this song tells about a boy (music video) who admires his father (son and father relationship). In a larger perspective this song tells about heroism. In my opinion this song is also a story about mental growing up.

Here are briefly some points that I've made of these lyrics, some point of views that I think are inspiring or interesting.

"All of the perfection nothing will and can be made" = Deep philosophic thought, one can never be perfect or perfection is not worth of chasing

"The old skin has to shed before the new one sees the day" = Thought about time, transformation and evolution. People live and pass away, natural circulation of life

"Opportunities to find the deeper powers in ourselves, come when life is breathing and seem more than what it is" = Only living your live, trying and opportunities can show your true potential. Life is also much more than it sometimes looks like, you can never be sure what is going to happen next

"Go blindly, completely" = Don't wait or stagger too much, live fully!

"And believe that all the angels are coming, you bring me down then I will fly again" = You (son talking to his father) give me hope and strength. Father gives son a good self-esteem but he's also realistic, not overly pretentious. Quite representative son and father relationship

"What awaits and when will be the day, when I can wear the cape" = Son taking his place in life as a hero. Reminds me of the sentence "The old skin has to shed before the new one sees the day"

"I´m lying on the ground as always staring into the air" = I think this sentence is important, almost the heart of the song. Son is dreaming about being a hero.

Michael Poulsen explained how this is a song many can relate to. "It’s about growing up and what do you want to be when you grow up; a lot of boys read comic books about superheroes and look up to their daddies as some kind of hero." He further added how "the lyrics are about this kid who has a good imagination with superheroes, and he looks at his dad as a hero. So when he loses his dad, he stops believing in his superheroes too, and he has an idea that if angels exist, because they have wings, he might catch an angel to fly him up to see his superhero and get a cape to fly around and look for his dad."
