But this song IS hope, personified. I like that it's been released in springtime. Fresh starts, regeneration, etc.

It later occurred to me how very perfect it would have been, that song, juxtaposed with Boomerang.

It's a song about hopes for a reconciliation after a break up or divorce-- a guy gets dumped because of the problems he brought to the relationship, but after fixing himself and taking everything she said to heart, he is coming back like a boomerang.

(Nobody knew about the problems he was having, perhaps he was keeping it inside. It made him feel really 'down', hence the reference to altitude. He always knew he loved his girl, but got confused and "dizzy", so she dumped him but he knows that she had every right to do so.)

A lot of songs on this album written by Ed are about a break-up. It is sad, and I wish I knew more.
This song really helped me with my situation. My girlfriend broke up with me after 3 years due to religious differences and after a couple months apart I got right with God and am now trying to win back her love and trust, I just want to be her Boomerang. Whenever hope seems lost i just pop this song in and sing along to it and I feel a lot better about the situation.
