Pussy Riot Lyrics
for taking part in a punk rock prayer in which they called on the virgin mary to rid russia of vladimir putin"
bound by our promise to never give up
honour, salvation, we'll fight its way
we are not sinners that need to be saved
program superhero anarchy
break out
we will defy your authority
we are who we are
what we believe
you have not seen the last of me
an army of tits down for the cause
mother, daughter, sister unite
rise out of silence, stand up and fight
stand up, unify, raise hell
break out
fight to the death for equality
what we believe
locked up or free not seen the last of me
we are who we are
i try to keep my faith alive
what we believe
i cannot keep my hate inside
no religion or state of cross brutality
you have not seen the last of me
we will defy your authority
we are who we are
i try to keep my faith alive
what we believe
i cannot keep my hate inside
locked up or free not seen the last of me
we are who we are
i try to keep my faith alive
what we believe
i cannot keep my hate inside
no religion or state of cross brutality
you have not seen the last of me
break out
but it was heard all around the world."
Heh, a lot to think about here. So I need to tell everyone reading this that I hate telling people what to think and babbling, and the following is nothing but. However, let me throw this out here before I start yapping: One song doesn't mean KMFDM has sold out and is over. You can continue being a fan, even if you don't enjoy or agree with this particular song.
On the other hand, maybe it's worth talking about, since you are looking up the song to get the lowdown on its meaning.
Alright, so Pussy Riot goes to a church in Russia, performs a "prayer" to get rid of Vladimir Putin, and gets kicked out and thrown in jail.
If they'd go in the church and prayed like ordinary people, perhaps they wouldn't have been thrown out or jailed.
You can argue that they needed to do this, to make a point. Certainly, you have some balls, so to speak, if you do something that makes headlines, it generates awareness. Protesters love awareness.
Was this a GOOD thing to do? Well, I'll admit I don't like the modern feminism because it's irrational. And it's sexist. I like irrationality as much as anyone else, but if you're trying to make serious social progress, maybe you should express your opinions in more accessible ways. Wouldn't it be cool if you instead lurked in the congregation for a while and somehow convinced all the nuns that that the patriarchy needs to be overturned and dismantled? That sounds more effective to me. The message would spread like a disease.
More to the point, does this mean KMFDM has sold out? Eh, they've always tended toward lefty politics, although this is more lefty than normal. Despite all the questions/concerns/misgivings a KMFDM fan might have about this track one song out of a gigantic catalog won't kill ya. I bet if I really analyze songs from Symbols or Angst I'd find things I can't relate to or disagree with. That's just normal. Nobody is going to see eye to eye on EVERYTHING.
KMFDM is dead. They reached the lowest point with this propaganda cunt song.
Soooo true.
Soooo true.
pretty good song for me and kmfdm were always clear about their political position, so your reaction is strange

@janeaparis1 You're a tool if you haven't been able to see the sociopolitical commentary running through virtually EVERY KMFDM song.
