Shadow Moses Lyrics
Can you tell from the look in her eyes?
We’re going nowhere
We live our lives like we’re ready to die
We’re going nowhere
Can you tell from the look in her eyes?
We’re going nowhere
We live our lives like we’re ready to die
We’re going nowhere
I thought I’d buried you
And covered the tracks
You’ll have to take this with your cold dead hands
I thought I’d buried you
What's dead can never die
I thought I cut you loose
Severed the feeling
I stepped through the crack as you clamp to my shirt
I thought I’d buried you
What's dead can never die
Can you tell from the look in her eyes
We’re going nowhere
We live our life like we’re ready to die
We’re going nowhere.
You can run but you’ll never escape
Over and over again
Will we ever see the end?
We’re going nowhere
This is sempiternal
Will we ever see the end?
This is sempiternal
Over and over, again and again
Rise from the dead you child
Secrets don’t deplete till they come to the ground
Signal the sirens, rally the troops
Ladies and gentlemen
Its the moment of truth
Can you tell from the look in her eyes?
We’re going nowhere
We live our lives like we’re ready to die
We’re going nowhere
You can run but never escape
Over and over again
Will we ever see the end?
We’re going nowhere
Can you tell from the look in her eyes?
We’re going nowhere
We live our lives like we’re ready to die
We’re going nowhere
You can run but never escape
Over and over again
Will we ever see the end?

Will we ever see the end?

i think this song is about being sick of the crap we deal with, and looking at it all in a whole
The is about feeling stuck and that no matter what people do in life, they are still going nowhere. Despite feeling as if they are trying to break free, they are unable to do so, instead feeling like they will be stuck forever. The song is a metaphor for life, Articulating the feeling of being stuck in the same situation, unable to break the cycle and find freedom.
Before i red the lyrics i thought they said "we're coming over"... My english isn't the best...
Personally I think that since Oli is an atheist like me, this song is about his disbelief in an afterlife. When Oli sings "Can you tell from the look in her eyes, we're going nowhere" I think he is making a reference to death and that when we die "We're going nowhere". The word sempiternal means everlasting or eternal and I think that when Oli says "This is sempiternal" he is saying that the universe goes on forever. Please reply if you would like to say something to me about my interpretation. Thank you.
@staymetalforthekids agreed. This is what I understand from the lyrics as well. Despair at being trapped in an infinite void of nothingness. Being haunted by it, trying to run away - but that dread stays with you always. Understanding that time itself is an illusion. We are no more than an infinitesimal blip. We are nothing now and we will always be nothing. The universe has no reason to exist. Nothing ever did. The reason for this reality is arbitrary, just like our existence is arbitrary. It's one of the infinite number of random possibilities that comes from nothingness....

It's one of the infinite number of random possibilities that comes from nothingness. There is no greater meaning, there is nobody watching over you, and there is no escape. You can't do anything to change it. And it will keep repeating, over and over again, because in nothing there is everything that could ever possibly exist. You will never find something tangible to anchor yourself to. Forever and ever, you will exist as nothing.
I love this song so much! Bit off topic, but has anyone heard of the band FROM INSIDE?? Well I read on Twitter that Oli Sykes and Jordan Fish have written all the music for them cos they are good friends in the UK. Check out their music video for their single BE YOURSELF - FROM INSIDE by searching on Youtube, it sounds very BMTH but still its ridiculous good obviously. Mad that they are doing this too for friends bands now, really love them :D
It is really existential; it's like picturing yourself running in circles, how we feel that we've been here before. It's all about the concept of something being sempiternal no matter what; like it doesn't matter if you think you're free you're always in this circle with no way out. I hope it's not like this, worse would be nothing at all. The fact that there's something tells me that at least there are some things we can change. Have you ever pictured nothingness? That would be truly sempiternal. "Will we ever see the end?", we will. Everything comes to an end. But there's always a new beginning. We should really be grateful for the things we have, instead of wondering what we don't have. It's like drowning in a glass of water, basically. Just fuck existence and do as you will.
First off, some of these lyrics are incorrect.
But personally, I think this song is a song to those who've been bullied, who were that one person out of the group, the victim. It says basically, that we've finally given up, ' Can you tell from the look in our eyes? We're going nowhere. ' We're the hopeless, breathing in the world of the ignorant, rude, and stubborn.
Just by the chorus, I personaly interprit it as "People are looking into our eyes andseeing our pain, We live and are just done with it all" Then it leads on to say This is Semperteral Literally meaning This is Infinate. I see this as were sick of this shit you put us thew, were done with you. This will last forever, but im going to push threw. No matter what. :)
thats what i really like about bmth's lyrics. the lyrics doesnt really have one meaning. it can be viewed from different perspectives. well at the end it all comes down to something negative , because this is one of the edgiest bands after all
I guess it's about Metal Gear Solid. Like storyline interpretation. I've never seen "Shadow Moses" anywhere else.
the title Shadow Moses was actually just used as a working title to be changed during the final edits on the album, but they never got around to changing it. they recognize this though, hence adding the intro music to sound like the theme music for Shadow Moses in MGS

Yeah, it's not about MGS as much as it's simply a reference. The intro music is similar to MGS's opening music, and the harmonic bend during the breakdown, right before he shouts "fuck" sounds kinda like the alert noise when you've been seen in the MGS games.

@jesusofpaign it's not that it SOUNDS like MGS1's theme "The Best Is Yet To Come". It IS The Best Is Yet To Come. They sampled the intro and mixed it in. That connection is honestly how I know about this band.
