Pour It Up Lyrics

All I see is signs
All I see is dollar signs
Oh, money on my mind
Money, money on my mind
Throw it, throw it up
Watch it fall off from the sky
Throw it up, throw it up
Watch it all fall out
Pour it up, pour it up
That's how we ball out
Throw it up, throw it up
Watch it all fall out
Pour it up, pour it up
That's how we ball out
That's how we ball out
That's how we ball out
That's how we ball out

Valet cost a hundred bills
I still got my money
Gold all up in my grill
I still got my money
Who cares how you haters feel?
And I still got my money
Call J up and close a deal
I still got my money
My fragrance on and they love my smell
I still got my money
So who cares about what I spend
I still got my money
My pocket's deep, and they never end
I still got my money
I'm going dumb with all my friends
I still got my money

All I see is signs
All I see is dollar signs
Oh, money on my mind
Money, money on my mind
Throw it, throw it up
Watch it fall off from the sky
Throw it up, throw it up
Watch it all fall out
Pour it up, pour it up
That's how we ball out
Throw it up, throw it up
Watch it all fall out
Pour it up, pour it up
That's how we ball out
That's how we ball out
That's how we ball out
That's how we ball out

First of all whan I listen to this song I can sense her feeling blue and sort of dissapointed and hurt by somebody. I just sense that. It can't be just for no reason. It's like she was hurt by some people (accountants indeed?) and now she's having her time with her friends in her world of parties, sort of indulging or self-compensating, getting back her feeling of self-worth and power which her money provide. Also she's feeling sort of dumbfounded from all that shining and glamour and cash pouring up and down in the nightclubs. It's when she sings all I see is signs. And she probably looks at money of nightclubs as a parallel of money she has to deal with in her big life, so she feels lonely and insecure. And so she just decides to rush into this nightlife as a way to wash all those thoughts away. But she's in fact still really hurt and empty from those worries. Maybe I'm totally wrong about the meaning but I just feel it this way very strongly...

Song Meaning

Wow, I think you just more of an analysis on this song than Rihanna has done in her whole life. The song is simple.. mind numbingly simple.

Can't really understand how anyone could be a fan of Rihanna after hearing this song. The lyrics are disgusting - she's basically boasting about rich she is. Does that even count as music???

Duh...it's just a song? Not meant to stimulate any thinking it's just a catchy song people would love to hear in a club or something. When I hear this I'm not disgusted, it's a given she's rich and I feel rich when listening to it lol

No way is this shallow. Have you seen the video? Lines about "Money make the world go around", "Bands make your girl go down", "The look in your eyes, I know you want some". Yes in a sense, I agree that Rihanna doesn't give many fucks. However, she is far more self-aware than one might think. I think the disgusting behavior she displays in her video as well as the lyrics I mentioned are a representation of how disgusted she is with money. I mean after a certain point, what is the purpose of money? She can have anything she wants without even trying, even going so far as to spend ridiculous amounts on things like grills and valets. The fact that she can literally manipulate "your girl to go down" and she can "see the look in your eyes" means she is bored of the power that her money has over others. She is tired of the dogs around her, begging for scraps off the table. And thus she gives no fucks.

I think this song is referencing the recent tabloid scandals that talked about Rihanna suing her accountants (http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/jul/06/rihanna-sues-former-accountants). She's essentially saying despite what you've her money isn't an issue for her, so it shouldn't be an issue for you. She's got more than enough money to live an opulent lifestyle at such a young age. She has the privilege to shamelessly waste 'hunneds' on valvet parking, strippers and bottles at the club with no concern for financial turmoil the careless spending might cause in the future cause she's got millions in the bank. So don't worry.

My Opinion

"All I see is dollar signs" could also mean that just because she's come into wealth at such a young-age, doesn't mean she is ignorant to the value of money. She thinks money, Recognizes where it comes from and how it get it, she's heavily involved in the financial aspect of her career. Being Jay-Z's prodigy he's taught her to keep her money in check and always make sure she's getting her slice of the pie, if not the whole bakery.

Wow, Rihanna really is a vapid turd.
