Freedom

This song means so much to me that I created an account just to provide an interpretation. I am almost a 100% certain about the meaning, though I admit that it's only because I feel such a strong connection with the words (and not because, say...the band members sat me down to explain them).

This song is in the voice of Jesus Christ. Keep in mind that He is also referred to as "The Word [of God]" so that should put some of the lyrics and their double entendres in even more perspective.

This is my "translation" of the song:

"Freedom, these words I speak are for your freedom. Freedom, this death on the cross is for your freedom

Until every road is removed from the earth Until even the world starts spinning in reverse You will always feel my peace in your mind Because I will wrap you in the comfort of my words

And now as I bleed on this cross My blood signifies the extent of your worth to me I did this because I knew you would thirst for this kind of love And the knowledge of this love will weave new words of comfort And they will provide you with freedom from the shackles of sadness and despair"

I hope these words do for you, what they did for me: fill me with the peace that transcends all understanding.

Here's what I think the song means.

I think this is referring to when the world ends... Until the end of time...

Since this song is believed to be about the Freedom Jesus gave us, this part could be about the Word of God saving someone

Bleeding dry the promise of worth Knowing you were meant for this thirst Drink it in slowly while life puts a heart in you Weaving new blankets of words Weaving new blankets of words

I kind of want to relate this story to Lacey. She's told her story several times about how she didn't believe in God at first and how she lived as an Atheist. But she found that she was meant to thirst for Christ and that her heart would soon heal, and this caused her to write the songs she sings for God... about God... Kind of like spreading His Word around. So the new blankets of words kind of refers to how God's Word can inspire us enough to do something worthwhile to spread His Word.

Leaving your freedom Dying for freedom

I'm not sure about the Leaving your freedom part, but dying for freedom probably refers to dying to be with Christ.

As for the chorus, that part kind of relates to the rest of the song. From what I'm seeing, it seems to be mostly about leaving a dark place when starting to believe in Christ... So not only could this freedom be about what He did for us but also how He may save us from darkness, therefore leading us to freedom...

So I'm not sure about the first verse but "Bleeding dry the promise of worth" I think means someone is starting to feel worthless then "Knowing you were meant for this thirst" is like you thirst for Christ and "Drink it in slowly while life puts a heart in you" when God works in your life and "puts a heart in you" and maybe "Weaving new blankets of words" is like some kind of words of comfort, maybe? The freedom part could be either what you're going through is part of growing in Christ or what Christ did for you that sets us free. Hoping to get the full story understood soon.

it's difficult for me to interpret this song but when i listen to it i feel it wants to say we can be free in this life if we're open to His Words and if we do what He tells as to do. and i also think that the repeating of the first verse as well as several repetitions of "Oh, freedom, This is for your freedom" are not random, guess it's a psychological emphasis, so interpreting the song we should be guided by its main idea - freedom :)
