Clara refers to Clara Petacci, Benito Mussolini's girlfriend, who was also executed.
The chorus (is it a chorus?) references the body Benito Mussolini hanging from the rafters at the Esso gas station on a meat hook after he was executed, and left to be abused by the public. I'm not sure who Glover was, but Ann Glover was the name of the last person to ever be executed as a witch in Boston.
It's comparing the treatment of trans* people to how war criminals like Bin Laden are treated.
and Jesus comes in where. As a war criminal? I believe this song is serving two purposes. 1. What people already mentioned here, the mistreatment of trans. 2. His disgust for Christianity, by grouping in Jesus with war criminals. Which truly makes no sense. But hey, thats music for ya.

Not to be "that guy", but...
this is my favorite song on the album, but I have no idea what it's about.
Only thing i can think of beyond the literal is maybe it's about violence against the trans* community. would tie in with the rest of the album a little better?

That makes a fucking hell of a lot more sense... when these lyrics went up, I was like... who the fuck is Glover??
I noticed someone on the Against Me forum suggest it was Glover because there was an Australian serial killer named Glover who apparently bashed women over the head. But to me it seems clear that she's singing "Clara".

IN MY OPINION.... The song is referring to Mussolini & his girlfriend. A metaphor relating to Obama "title" & how he is into everyone's business; locally & abroad. Clara obviously refers to Michelle who would be part of it due to the relationship with her husband. Subterfuge referring to the fact that he is always justifying his action "We, the American people" We the American people do not always agree. Ending with.... if you want to carry on like a God or a martyr you too will end up with a nail through the feet and a nail through the hands. Nah nah nah nah. :-) All songs are subject to interpretation from all who listen. The true meaning can only be told by who wrote the lyrics.
