Remember The Empire Lyrics
Here they threaten with murder and bribe us with peace.
Here they treat us like slaves and convince us we're free.
There's no turning back once enough is enough,
We can't, but we must, so
Stand, stand up!
What choice have they given us?
Oh stand, stand up!
Fight with us, and fight for love!
Remember the empire, remember your home.
Remember the empire,
Tear the king from the throne!
Fight for the life that our children should have,
Fight for every freedom that we never had,
There's no turning back all the bridges are burned,
Our peace must be earned, so
(Chorus)
We wrote it down in blood, in blood.
We gave our lives for love, for love.
Stand, stand up!
What choice have they given us?
Stand, stand up!
Fight with us, fight for love!
Remember the empire!
Tear the king from the throne!
Here they treat us like slaves and convince us we're free.
There's no turning back once enough is enough,
We can't, but we must, so
What choice have they given us?
Oh stand, stand up!
Fight with us, and fight for love!
Remember the empire, remember your home.
Remember the empire,
Tear the king from the throne!
Fight for every freedom that we never had,
There's no turning back all the bridges are burned,
Our peace must be earned, so
We gave our lives for love, for love.
What choice have they given us?
Stand, stand up!
Fight with us, fight for love!
Remember the empire!
Tear the king from the throne!

Such a catchy song. I love the guitar and drum stuff on the bridge. The lyrics are fun, and the vocals are on point. As always. Keep pumping out goodness, guys!
I'm not sure what "remember the empire", "remember your home", or "tear the king from the throne" mean, but the song seems to be about standing up for what you believe in and protecting your freedoms.
Hello there. You are quite right, but it goes deeper than that still. House of Heroes is a band made up of passionate Christians. "Remember the empire" and "remember your home" refer to heaven -- Christians believe that if our lives are given to Jesus, Heaven becomes our home, and that our lives on earth are temporary parts of it all. "Tear the king from the throne", while including the devil (Satan), means tearing the power away from anything that would have Christians again enslaved in the world.

Let me explain: Christians believe not...
Let me explain: Christians believe not only in God, but that Jesus was God Himself, come to the earth in the form of a man, so that He could be killable, and die for our sins. When He did this, the price of sin was paid, and we could all approach Him and live life with Him. Perfection had to die for imperfection so that the price would be paid in full. At Christmastime, we hear carols saying "peace on earth, ,good will to men" meaning Jesus came to let the earth know that God isn't wanting to destroy men, He wishes to save them, and came to do just that.
We Americans read bibles in English, but it wasn't written in English. It was written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Often there are words in these languages that don't have straightforward translations in English. (That's why there are so many bible translations -- they compliment each other, help present another piece of the picture so we can put them together and understand). When Jesus said, at the beginning of His ministry "the Kingdom of Heaven is near" (Matthew 3 & 4, for example) the literal translation is that Heaven is invading earth.
This song is a fight song -- to rally Christians to remember that we are not to forget about our true citizenship in Heaven, and the mission Christ commands us to. Jesus commanded Christians to spread the good news that God wants to save us all from the things that enslave us: fear, anger, exhaustion, unforgiveness, hate. He also told us to do the miracles He did -- physical miracles of healing and more. This song is a reminder that we can't get lazy, for people need to know how much God loves them. In 2 Peter 3 (Peter's 2nd letter to the Church at large) he explains that God wants everyone to be saved.
Yes, edf203, that's the gist of it.
"Tear the king from his throne" and "We wrote it down in blood, We gave our lives for love." --- these seem to be a reference to The French Revolution (F.R.)
"Here they treat us like slaves and convince us we're free" --this sounds like Christians struggling with the culture norms and the secular beliefs of today "ins laving" us in pleasure and tricking us into believing that we're "free"
"Fight for the life that our children should have, Fight for every freedom that we never had" -- this too refers to us as christians fighting to be different, so that our children won't have to deal with the things we do.
"Our peace must be earned" --- this is kind of a funny homonymous bit. "Our peace must be earned", not only for us but for our children, and in hoping they can live in peace with God and men. Also could be seen as "Our 'piece' must be earned" which is almost the same must more like gaining ground in a battle or something.
So, yes, this is a song about fighting for what you believe in, much like in the F.R.
But it is also a song about not letting ourselves drown in what seems like peace and pleasure and seeing them for what they really are; murder and slavery.
"Fight with us, fight for love"
I hope this wasn't completely confusing, i think in weird patterns. Sorry ;)
